Yeah, that’s exactly what I was joking about. “Gaius” sounds like a perfectly good griffon name in FiM context, but it’s not quite like the names of other dragons. Spike, Ember, Torch, Garble, Smolder…

Spike and Gaius are both similiar in personality and appearance.
 
Gaius have darker shade of purple, while Spike have lighter purple (Parents and their children don’t need to look like clones)  
Gaius habe emerald green eyes (Exactly same like Spike’s) and Gaius have also green “hair” but a little mintier version compared to Spike’s scales.
 
But Like I said… Parents don’t need to be adult clones of their offspring.

Since the Dragon Lord is not a bloodline and Spike has been Dragon Lord himself for a brief time that would not be that much of a twist, but sure why not.

That dude looks like he is related to Spike…
 
It would be actually great plot twist, If Spike found out that his biological father was a dragon lord.
