I hope so too. This is probably the best take on the “grown up” MLP we could ever got. It’s a fantastic story that also teaches everyone a diffrent, but also important lesson. May the horse be strong with this one.

What’s tragic about Delta’s life, is the fact that it all seems to be ruined for her. I wouldn’t go as far as to call her a bad mother. If anything, I’d say the she is the main victim in this story. She seems to be written as a typical “Strong Female Character”. She was an iteligent mare who dreamed big and had enough of determination to pursue her dreams.
 
She did all that was in her power to get the job she has always wished for ever since she was a kid. Then she fell in love with Jet. She still tried to find a balance between work and relationship, because both of those things were important to her. She she wanted to be Jet’s partner. 2 stong dreamers working day and night to achive all goals they had in mind. Jet seemed tough to have a diffrent idea about the life he wanted for them.
 
It’s not to say that Jet is a bad pony. He has his virtues too. But he made a mistake when he tried to apply his “life plan” onto Delta. Which lead to Apogee being born, to which Delta behaved like a caring mother at first. The art that is of them from that time suggests that she has put even more work to balance her life between job, relationship and the kid. For few years she seems to have really tried to work it all out. That was untill she noticed that she stopped being Jet’s partner. They weren’t equal anymore. All her work went purely on her coltfriend’s (were they ever married?) account.
 
No wonders she’d feel used and betrayed. This wasn’t the life she wanted for herself. She realized that she won’t get her dream job, as Jet already took it. That from now on she will be just a “Wife of the CEO of an important company”. That wasn’t the “relation” she wanted between them. Jet had good intentions, he wanted for her to be able to live best she could without having to work for it. As we see tough, it wasn’t what Delta wanted. She was an achiver, she liked this work. She wasn’t looking for an easy life, she wanted to create her own destiny.
 
It’s trurly scary to think about what she must have felt at that point. She fell in love and trusted a pony who was supposed to be her partner and ended up stealing her job to which she has done soo much to get to. She felt like Jet has made all her previous hard work go for nothing.
 
She had to quit that life. For a pony with such strong personality, living the life of a “leech” isn’t something honorable or wanted. She hated Jet for knowing about what she wanted from life and doing the exact opposite to her. Yes, Jet wanted to give her the best spot at the company. Yes, he wants to give her a new, better life. That only shows that he doesn’t understand her. She wants the life that she herself can make. With her own hard work, sweat and tears. She wants something to be proud of. And it’s hard to be proud of something, that was just given to you for nothing.
 
At the moment that Apogee was concived, it was when a posibility of a “happy end” was gone for Delta. If she stayed with Jet, she would have to look every day at the pony who betrayed her by taking her dreams away. She would have to stand the tought that everywhere he is, she should be ethier standing beside him, or instead of him. Delta may be strong, but noone would take such emotions for long. Sooner or later she’d do something that she would regret.
 
Now, she lives alone on a junk dump. It might be a mess. It might be much worse than what she could have, but it’s her’s. It’s the place that she reached with only her hard work and determination to have a home of her own.
 
Like it or not, but this is the best life that Delta can have at this point. To be brutally honest, I think it’s best for Apogee as well.
 
Delta has spent already about 10 years (I don’t remember correctly, I read all those fan fics weeks ago :P) living in filth while drinking, smokeing and inhaleing toxic jet engine fuel. A sad thing to accept, but with the ammout of stress she has put into her body, she probably won’t live too much longer. Few years maybe.
 
As much as I think all of us would want a “And they all lived happily ever after”, it’s just not possible at this point. Delta won’t choose to “go back to her family” because she knows that this would (probably litterally) kill her. The tought that she wasted soo much of her life, when she could just go and live with her family. Now that the clock is ticking, she would know how much time she has left to enjoy it.
 
Staying in the junkyard won’t make her live longer, but it will make her live as she always wanted to. Live on what she has acomplished. Not a “gift from someone else” or a “help out of pity”, but a hard work which payed off.
 
I think that this makes Delta such a wonderful character. You know there will be no happy ending for her, she knows there will be no happy ending for her, but she has accepted that. She just want to live her own live as her own master. Even if it means living in a dump.
 
She has a family, it’s true. But this isn’t the family she wanted. Not in this circumstances, not in this timespan. It’s emotionally healthier for her to let her family be. She seems to know that she cannot look at her daughter without thinking of the “bastard who ruined her life”, and it seems like it cannot be changed. After what she has been through, I am not suprised that she takes the life in which she herself is happier.
 
You only live once, and Delta has already lived her life. The best we can do, is allow her to have the self-earned life she always wanted to have.
 

 
wow. Sorry for getting so long with this. It’s just my silly own interpretation of the story :P  
I think I have read any fic, music piece and comic to date about Delta. She is really facinateing character, as she really represents the type of character whose life will never get better anymore. I wonder how much of my little “headcannon” will come true tough. Can’t wait to read more about the Space Ponyos ^^

the story jumps from before and after, but it doesn’t show the background, you dont see Delta taking care of Apogee and building her anger, just when she burst out. and i’m sure that will be the hardest part for Shino to show.

Her Story as a character has some very good points, not many fan characters have even the half of that. thats why we empathize with her, she has a huge problem, you doesnt care (it seems) but she has her family for good or bad. also you can make a character as tragic as you want, but without a good story behind, its not gonna work.

Delta is probably the saddest and most tragic character to ever be desinged by this fandom. I’m trurly sorry for her and her fate :c

It’s already up, check the more recent pages. This is a remake of an early page.

I would like to see, not the moment when Delta leaves Jet and Apogee, but the things that drives Delta into this state, is easy to make her grumpy just because. but as a character i would be more interesting to see why, not just: oh yeah it was because jet this and apogee that. No even the fanfics touch that moment, just the aftermath.  
Or maybe i’m overthinking a simple thing, sue me.

That’s what I say. Jet did a terrible thing, but at least raised a good child, which is more than I can say about Delta.

Honestly, both of her parents are assholes. Each in a different way. Apo deserves better but similarly to the real world, she is probably not gonna get better.
 
All one can really hope for is that she will learn from the mistakes of her parents and be a much better one herself one day.

She’s not being an asshole to apogee she is just angry with jet for doing what he did to her all those years ago and made her life this way.She still loves apogee even if she doesn’t show it that’s what all people need to understand in this situation.

I don’t know if I am the only one who actualy sees Jet as a good father, Apogee is so sweet and everybody knows is not thanks to her mother…

I suppose that “stab in the back” is an accurate euphemism for what actually happened.

Unfortunately she does have a little something to do with it, but it’s still not her fault specifically. I don’t know if Delta will ever have the ability to see past the circumstances of Apogee’s birth though.

I get and understand why Delta is so sensitive about the subject, but don’t take it out on Apogee. That’s not cool and she has nothing to do with the bullshit between her and her ex.
