Makes sense to me. After all, one of the selling points of the dark side is UNLIMITED POWER!!.
My headcanon is, the price of “no hunger” of reformed changelings is a capped power, while unreformed changeling have no cap to their power, as long as they have love.
Love power ups seem to be pretty temporary, perhaps another reason why she cocoons her meals so she can feed again later, makes the power boost last longer.
Also, I’m pretty sure any being of power comparable to what Tirek has at a given time can resist his draining. This was shown by how Twilight had to give it up willingly.
I assume she lost it after she and the rest of her army was blow away from Canterlot
Doesn’t she still have that power up?
Chrysalis was powered up by the love magic she absorbed from Shining Armor, but even then she struggled a little bit to overpower Celestia and was even surprised when she won.
But in the season 2 finale she just beat Celestia in magic…

She was wrecked by Twilight in “the mean 6” episode. So she more powerful than average pony, but below alicorns.
Possibly. I wouldn’t be surprised if changeling magic is more powerful than regular pony magic.
I’m curious how powerful Chrysalis is because when Tirek absorbed her magic at the end of the episode he grew a lot from it.
How big was he at the time? Remember Grogar didn’t power him up very far.
Probably because she didn’t have to make up devious resistance spells like changelings.
The effortlessness was what surprised me. Remember, even Celestia couldn’t resist his draining.
Well, she is Queen of the Changelings, same ones that made magic-resistant throne she always sat on.
