I’m writing a ponyoverse story where I’m currently attempting to merge the AU fanon and official canon as best I can (Apogee is visiting Ponyville).

On a cosmic scale, I do think that alicorns controling celestial bodies is rather ludicrous. My best bet is probably going to be in reality, Celestia and Luna’s (and the unified unicorns before them) magic maintains and protects the planets axial tilt. They don’t control the sun and moon, but they do keep everything turning, because of how badly Discord broke reality during his chaotic rampage.

That’s what I’m going with.

You know, there’s something about this remake that I realized, and that’s they’re changing it from the original in certain ways. Take the scene where Jet drop offs Apogee onto Delta. The original has him sound more like someone out of options and in a rush, while the new one is more of him forcing Apogee onto Delta. The original also lacked a scene of Delta being nice to Apogee when she isn’t near tears, like this one. It honestly feels like Shin/the writer realized that they made current Jet more likeable than current Delta, and are trying to “fix” that. Wouldn’t be surprised if they change the Gavel scene to have Jet be the one to send her rather than Apogee, to hammer home that they want people to hate Jet.

In this universe, the scientific explanation is the clearly absurd one, while “gods” controlling the celestial bodies is the reality. Delta’s just one of those stubborn ponies that won’t accept the evidence. Like a flat earther being shown why the world clearly ain’t flat.

She’s almost a more extreme version of Twilight that time she followed Pinkie around. Twilight was ultimately in the wrong because she went in determined to prove what she already thought, rather than what the evidence demonstrated (time and time again). Delta could be the same way, but less willing to open her mind and accept that she’s wrong.
