I don’t think it’s just a matter of everyone being polite. I mean, do you really think Diamond Tiara (at least before her change of heart) or that mother of hers would refrain from commenting on the matter if given the chance? No, I think it’s mutual secret keeping that keeps the less than polite at bay. After all, if the CMC’s foray into tabloid journalism taught us anything, it’s that Rarity is very keen on gossip. And while I doubt she’s reached Pinkie Pie levels of keeping information on others, I’d bet there isn’t a salacious or scandalous story she isn’t eventually aware of. Especially with all the time she spends at that spa.

Why are you necroposting?

  1. “Even littler than y’all” and “When [Applejack] was your age” sound like exaggerations/approximations. We’re treating flashbacks as suspect but taking dialog at face?
  2. Granny looks younger in “Apple Lies” despite using her older design in “Chronicles”. That suggest the parents weren’t there because they didn’t have character models as they were unimportant at the time. They could have been busy with Apple Bloom at the time/said goodbye offscreen.
  3. Jim Miller stated they were “away on a couple’s vacation.” >>1366756 They likely took Apple Bloom with them given how young she’d be. “Whole Family” refers to the remaining members at the farm. And Granny was the owner and matriarch of the farm, hence why the were trying to convince her not their parents. And Diamond being (secretly) born prior would explain why Filthy married Spoiled despite her character, and what the show would do over Apple Bloom being the product of incest if it had to choose between the two.
  4. If the “Going to Seed” flashback was meant to be unreliable, why even have it? If it wasn’t supposed to be taken semi-seriously, why would it be important enough to the story to even include?

Most likely they meant to retcon Apple Bloom’s age no matter how much it contradicted prior works. Maybe the unreliability of the flashback was meant so those inclined could ignore it they felt it made no sense.

There is nothing wrong about taking My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic seriously and to do serious analyzing on it. It’s one of those shows with lore and interesting things hinted at that invite you to do that.
But the “analyzis” of Wild Stallions is inaccurate, because he wildly assumes something without any evidence supporting it (being that Diamond Tiara wasn’t yet born at the time we saw in the flashback in “Where the Apple Lies”, which he merely bases on the fact that she wasn’t seen on-screen in that one, particular, specific moment), so this upload isn’t giving the best impression of the fandom’s analyzing efforts.
I would commend him for doing that analyzis, he’s putting more thoughts into the show than most people do, but his lack of ability to reflect on his own analyzis and to accept it that he made mistakes with it and overlooked things, which leads to childish rejections of it if someone points out the holes in his theory, is making it hard to be happy about it.
For someone who attempts to analyze the show, he is assuming too quickly and has too much of a tendency to jump to rushed conclusions.

Don’t even bother arguing with him.He is one of those people that like to take a cartoon seriously.

I think you’re overlooking her saying she doesn’t even think of literal ages (the characters don’t need them, after all). If we’re talking human terms it certainly doesn’t make any sense for any of the main characters to be only 12 when they’re so much bigger than the child characters.

Try taking her statement into proper context. You’ve missed the important clarification at the end.

I think more about maturity level more than literally age. I think of them from anywhere from 12 - 17. I use the excuse that horses age differently than humans to give them their adult independence.

Horses become adults at the age of four, which would make the ages she specified adulthood. Of course, this was kind of blown out the water with the Season 2 finale, with Chrysalis likening Pinkie’s wedding preparations to a “six year old’s birthday party”, thus implying that ponies age similarly to humans in Equestria.

Lauren Faust has stated that the Mane Six are teenagers.
Background Pony #A470
@Wild Stallions ,because the cartoon “My little pony” is very similar to other cartoons like “Winx club” and “Sailor moon”. Because they all are about girls who safes the world. Girls in the “Winx club” are teenagers, girls in “Sailor moon” are teenagers,so girls(I mean mane 6) in “My little pony” are might be teenagers, too! But that’s only my option.

How did you come to that opinion? The mane six are all close in age, and it’s established that when they got their cutie marks Rarity and Cheerilee were in the same class. So they must be adults now.
Background Pony #A470
In my opinion Applejack is a teenager, she is 16 years old. Apple bloom is a kid,she is 9 years old.Big Mac is young adult,he is 20 years old. So,when Apple bloom was born,Applejack were 7 years old and Big Mac was 11 years old.In the “Were the Apple lies” Applejack is 11 years old,Big Mac is 15 years old and Apple bloom might be 4 years old. But that’s my opinion.

Maybe because this is a cartoon that has shown to have a usually much stronger sense of continuity and character growth than most shows of its type?

Assuming she’s adopted is a far greater leap.

Characters in this show generally don’t have family names, anyway. The Apple family don’t all have “Apple” in their Name, and there’s a thematic relation between Twilight and her family but no shared words.
CyanHide

This whole thing rests on one assumption;

Diamond Tiara being Filthy Rich’s biological daughter.

She’s (as far as we know) an only child but wasn’t given the Rich family name. Sure, she calls him ‘father’ and ‘dad’ but he’s raised her for most of her life. Of course she would.

No I am thinking more like 8-13 years older, which might not actually discount applebloom being applejack’s daughter @Smitty1991
and yes each season seems to be close to covering a full year so the mane 6 would be the modern definition of adults by now.

True, but the Mane Six are pretty much adults at this point. @Background Pony #093B
Agreed! The CMC are practically teenagers by now.
