Sad to be honest, that we could’ve had multiple episodes featuring aj and rarity spending time with their other friends, but instead the animators put all their chips into sailing their ship.

Huh, didn’t know that was I thing… I’ve been in this fandom since late 2011. As much as I miss the hype, newness, and comradery the fandom had from 2010 to 2014, outsiders not caring about us anymore and the lack of civil wars is a very good thing. Though honestly, the cynicism after Starlight joined the main cast and the sudden cynicism around EqG just honestly make me sad.

shipping wars are basically the same as the great “best pony” wars that started between bronies during the dark ages of 2011-2013. Where different brony clans were literally ACTUALLY angry with each other all the time. The most common example being people who liked Luna viciously attacking people who liked Celestia and vice-versa. Mostly on the Celestia bashing.
 
It was a tragic period really - right as the brony community had begun to normalize and become accepted, just after the worst of the “bronies vs everyone else” era, we had our own dumbass civil wars until eventually everyone learned to stfu and just like characters without being personally offended when someone doesn’t like that character or worse, when they just straight up like a different character better. And to just in general not be /bothered/ by these fictional characters as much in general when we don’t like them.
 
In that way, the “best pony” wars were even more pointless and pathetic than shipping wars. Thankfully, they’ve MOSTLY died. Now we just got the occasional shipping war argument, which is barely better.
