she’s not just selling dresses! she’s selling an image! an experience, darling! she’s selling the confidence you need to make it in this world!
Yeah! The real Rarity would totally betray her craft and sell nothing to her clients for easy money! Who cares about actually making dresses, right? Not Rarity, that’s for sure!
I mean sure that explains Rarity’s actions somewhat, the point that this has nothing to do with the show still stands.
You sure are cynical…
I should have realized this would be the case based on what happened with Pinkie earlier.
What makes you sure that is not a reaction to the audience?
Yeah, admittedly I did too.
“They”? More like “we”. We all jumped to conclusions here.
Well, shit, looks like people were overreacting over something that had an explanation that they would’ve gotten if they had just been patient instead of immediately jumping to “OOC”. What an absolute shock!
Poor Coco’s world has thus been destroyed throughout this strip.
That slap in the second panel, though XD
@kleptomage
Fun usually. Some canon material even has scenarios that do this sort of thing with their own alternate universes. Both Marvel and DC have quite a bit of alternate universes including some “What If” stories. Likewise, Transformers has Shattered Glass in which most of the characters are basically the opposite of each other personality-wise (e.g. Starscream is usually an evil backstabber but in SG he’s kind and loyal).
At least that’s FUNNY, not to mention fits with what’s already been in this comic. This is just mean and doesn’t even fit this AU all that much.
Including shows for little girls apparently.
Hahaha, you’re talking about a mediocre web comic like it’s a great novel. Just goes to show everything has its rabid fans, I guess.
While I agree with you regarding most of this comic, this stuff here is a little bit too much for me. I’m gonna keep reading, but I don’t care for this aspect.
@Olpert
Couldn’t disagree more with you two. This series has done a ton of work at building and developing characters over years. The world is extremely developed and detailed. Everything isn’t just handed to you saying “here it is.” It’s a living breathing world and a lot of it has to be done with your own investigating. Characters aren’t just characters. They are deep, complex, and varied. I would go as far as to say this is one of the most complex and deep online comic’s around. You just have to be in to it.
What is the point if they are so different that they are practically OCs?
Except that’s how AUs work. You can do anything with AUs including the classic “everyone is evil” or “everyone has reverse morality”.
Basically this.
My main criticism of Adorkable Twilight is that it takes familiar characters you expect to act a certain way, makes them totally different, and asks you to accept it because it’s an AU. It’s a poor AU that abandons what makes characters likable.
Yeah I dunno about this series. It’s not far enough removed from the show(or funny enough) to be an abridged series type thing and it’s far, far too removed from the actual setting and characters to be anything close to canon. I guess if I had to label it I would call it “Bad 90s sitcom AU”.
It’s not a total reversal on her main virtue.
I think she was just pointing something out. The fact is that you can get people to buy almost anything as long as you advertise it well enough.
