so, i can not believe 4 years and 2 years ago get kill svengallop in videos? this Hasbro Don’t fight votes? now reformed villain Characters all failed votes!
To be honest, Trixie’s redemption was way more rushed than the others. I mean, she mostly got some humble pie shoved in her face and after coming back in No Second Prances, she was only sort of the same up until the end.
Indeed, that’s a summary we can kinda see eye-to-eye on. Based on the show, Lightning Dust can be argued to be a sociopath. She’s not really sadistic, as one of her saving graces goes, but she’s shown no signs of being capable of the affective type of empathy.
What normal person literally goes “yeah, and?” with a smile on their face after hearing their plan ended up endangering others? I would absolutely never trust her with my life.
@GrapefruitFace
Exactly. Trixie was only truly evil when she had the amulet, Sunset was a bully and schemer but couldn’t cross the line to directly hurting people like Spike until the elements painfully turned her into a demon, which painted an unpleasant picture for herself to reflect on, and Starlight….well, she’s a purple unicorn with a synonym name for Twilight Sparkle, so obviously she must be redeemed somehow. XP
And Dust, well, she’s a friendly and sociable sociopath, but I would never EVER want her to watch my back. I don’t tend to confuse sociability and empathy, as they are two VERY different things in my experiance.
@Background Pony #CE8B
No, that was not a second chance.
If she had gotten the second chance she was supposed to get things would have turned out differently.
And I will not discuss this again.
@Flufux
If she had taken responsibility she would have given her the guidance and training she needed.
Instead she was lazy and incompetent.
Signing autographs does not count as being busy.
And why did she willingly put on the Alicorn Amulet?
Because Trixie blamed Twilight for “upstaging her” when she saved everyone’s lives. She did absolutely nothing to Trixie, yet she wanted “revenge” on her. She absolutely was villainous in Magic Duel.
(Unless you’re gonna tell me this was secretly a hint of her having noble intentions?)
It was all her fault, just as much as a DUI would be on you.
Thst being said, until and/or unless proven otherwise, Lightning Dust was and is worse, because she’s failed to show a willingness to change, and both times involved her not giving a shit about the lives of others being jeopardized, whereas Trixie, Sunset and Starlight have changed.
@OtherPonyName
…And she took responsibility by firing Lightning Dust. She didn’t know what Dust was doing, but cut her loose as soon as she did.
I guess one could argue that she should have had better oversight over what they were doing and stopped Lightning before she could enact her crazy tornado idea, but likely she was too busy to be around all the time.
@Flufux
Spitfire was in charge. It was Spitfire’s fault that raw recruits were doing something that was so dangerous. Lighting Dust and her actions are Spitfire’s responsibility.
Why just Lightning Dust? Why not lob in the Flim Flam brothers, Gladmane, Suri Polomare, Svengallop, Diamond Dogs and all the other minor antagonists in the right side category? Do they all need to be reformed? The fact that Lightning Dust got another appearance at all was a goddamn miracle, and better yet in my opinion that they kept her in character rather than pull in another redemption story on top of all the ones we’ve already had.
