Perhaps, but she’s also grown a lot since the start of the show. Watching her relapse like this to her worst behavior is upsetting, even if it’s perfectly reasonable that it could happen. What’s worse, she actually made herself unlikable with her actions, even if it’s within her character it still makes her unlikable to do so.
Like if Celestia or Pinkie or anyone really is perfect. She’s a pony, not the incarnation of friendship. She has a title, but is not like she must always represent total friendship al the time.

Your attempt at defending this would make sense if Twilight WASN”T suppose to be the great avatar of friendship, future ruler of Equestira and a pony who gives lesson to ponies like Dash in episode last week. As of now Twilight is just a hypocrite who doesn’t deserve the title of princess of friendship OR the writing is incompetent this season.
I would say Season 9 so far is close to S8 which is YIKE lever of bad writing and character regression. I think both S8 and S9 are probably worse than S6 since even S6 had some heavy hitters like Saddle Rov Review. HOwever S1-5 and S7 are still way out above S6
Twilight has benn always kind of an overachiever and sometimes struggles with self-awareness (I do not get “all freaked out” about tests! for example).
Twilight in fact gets always worked up for somebody else’s problems and is very considerate; but when she has a goal in mind, she can get tunnel vision quite easily, like when she decided to steal the pearl because Equestria was in danger and her friends by that point had been not all that helpful.
I for one like to see this flaw of Twilight, getting a bit too overcompetitive on things she’s supposed to be good at.
And Twilight has shown to had some sense of priorities: this was just a trivia game, in the RD AJ feud they almost drown Yona in a potentially risky trip. Or during the Crystal Empire, where she did worked herlself out to pass the test, but in the moment she noticed others were in danger, she decided passing wasn’t worth it and let Spike take the crystal heart.
