I get that impression as well. It would’ve been far better had the series ended with a bang instead of a whimper. One wonders how the series finale could’ve turned out had the show ended back in 2015 when most of the original staff were still working on the show. It probably would’ve been far better than what we got since they had a lot more care for the series.

A clear case of overstaying one’s welcome for the better part of a decade. Like Spongebob Squarepants or The Simpsons, two decades and three respectively. It’s not possible to keep any story going on indefinitely without eventually making things up as you go along. If you rigidly plot something and fill in the blanks, you eventually come to that point, then you either terminate the story or revive it with a continuation no one thought of upfront.
This is what happened with FiM. Had this book closed at back in 2015, there wouldn’t be any less fanart or fanfics being drawn and written. It’s like saying Star Trek died when the original series ended. It didn’t. It actually thrived thanks to NG revival. They had to find things that didn’t conflict with established stories and go from there, but many of them weren’t planned.
I actually like the 1985 series, as it’s actually a good show. Fun, funny and doesn’t seem a total waste. Nothing groundbreaking or great, but damn good. Far better than crazy fanboys want to make it out to be. The abysmal early 2000’s revival wasn’t good, and those who see it out of context often mistake it for the 80’s show. Fortunately, it ended quickly enough, and the 80’s show is very available for those who want to look. It had a good run that wasn’t cut short like the next one would be, but it didn’t run for eleven straight years thereby running itself into the ground.

well that is if the mane 6 aren’t brought back like the g5 concepts suggest… I honestly think a good idea for g5 would be have a NEW set of 6 characters and have the “many worlds” thing be literal and have the new 6 main characters be the crew of a spaceship traveling to other worlds to complete friendship quests

I actually just cried a bit when I remembered the first time I watched an episode of mlp. we have come such a long way since that. I am not ready to step through the g5 portal… I wish Hasbro could let the fans continue the series in any directions like create new timelines for cannon.

I know right? 9 years since that book opened… I am truly not ready to close the series. the weight of the end of g4 just hit me like a train when I saw this
