I would’ve liked this scene better if Discord’s hubris was that he didn’t realise Grogar was trapped in the bell itself, imprisoned by Gusty cause she realized that he couldn’t be beaten conventionally and trapped him in the bell and hid him somewhere. Later, Discord, the dumbass he is, knows about the bell but doesn’t read the finer details. Then, as his disguise gets broken down, the real Grogar pops out of the bell and he’s disgusted with the way Discord copied him. He then uses his dark power to unmake Discord into several animals who all run off. Grogar then turns around…to find the 3 villains had scampered off with his power.

Whether the 3 little wolves reformed or got disposed of by Grogar. I don’t care. My main complaint is definitely Grogar. He’s is actually popular in g1 alongside Tirek.

I definitely agree! Would make a much better story for the finale if Grogar would be involved as the big threat…  
I mean Discord sure loves to fuck around and mess things up, but come on… he wouldn’t be that stupid to bring ultimate doom to Equestria. This is just poor writing and a bunch of carelessness.

The fans who defend this twist have really lame defenses.
 
  1. “Grogar wasn’t even a good villain”  
    A: They could’ve fixed him in the finale. Not to mention people have waited a long time for him.
     
  2. “It’s Discord, what did you expect?”  
    A: I know he’s stupid, but he shouldn’t be THIS stupid.
     
  3. “It shows that Discord cares”  
    A: He does, but this is inexcusable.
     
  4. “4 villains would ruin the pacing”  
    A: All it takes is good writing.
     
    You know, I also think it would be better if the 3 villains remained evil and as Grogar’s partners instead of Discord being Grogar, the villains backstabbing Grogar, being reformed or the villains backstabbed by Grogar, would’ve worked better in my opinion.

For christ sake, I was 7 years old when watching some really bad episodes of cartoons and even then, I could tell something’s wrong and knew when to complain.
 
This is something companies these days need to understand: Little girls/boys/kids are not fucking stupid so stop treating them like such!

Didn’t any of them think: “Thisbtwist isn’t a good idea. It will waste a bleoved villain and make Discord look like an idiot. This is gonna piss off and dissapoint a lot of MLP fans.”
