You're not the only one who doesn't like it but no reason to scream at us. Just do it like me and use season 8 as your canon ending.
My canon ending is, that they sent Cozy to a school for problem children. At some point, she escaped and the legion of doom formed (Tirek, Cozy and Chrysalis. but no Sombra). Some stuff of s9 did happen (like Frenemies or Celestia's and Luna's vacation) in a similar way. However, unlike the s9 final, the legion of doom started to go less and less evil so that, after a last battle with the heroes, the princesses will allow them to live their lifves (maybe with the help of the Changelings or other former villains).
Celestia and Luna won't retire and Twilight won't give up her school after 2 years. However, with some help from Twilight and maybe the pillars, Celestia and Luna are finally able to have at least a few free days every year and can stopbewingth a life that's "all work and no fun".
