No plan is perfect. He did it once after he got destroyed the first time right? Discord had every right to think he could do it again, especially considering his reality tearing abilities. Hell, I’m sure most people would’ve thought the same thing in his shoes.
It might be more stupid, but it’s better than trolling since it gives him a better justification than just trolling and revenge. Gotta take the good with the bad. He was acted stupid, but he did it to help 3 villains. He was stupid good.

Really? For real? Well at least he had good intentions and wasn’t being a troll. You can excuse Sombra since he probably thought he could revive him if he got defeated.
@IceKitsune
i think people overlook a major part of doing that to the diamonds.
gem kind would cease the ability to reproduce. its clear that the diamonds generate new gems through their essence. without them, gems would not be able to reproduce. while they are seemingly immortal, they are still killable. accidents happen. conflicts happen.
also we have to take into account that gems have a different psychology.

That is absolutely no excuse. He brought a threat back from the dead. He freed two others from prison. He had them form a coheisive group.

I didn’t say it was perfect, but Steven Universe doesn’t do it at all; out side of few token times early in the series. And even then it’s clear they don’t really believe in it at all.

Discord explains that he was trying to reform the villains by having them work together, which almost worked. He just didn’t expect them to succeed at getting the bell and hide it from him.
You know what for all the complaining that people do about this show reforming people too easily at least it does know when imprisonment or some kind of punishment is actually an appropriate response. Unlike say Steven Universe that lets a bunch of war mongers go Scot free because they are “Family”
