Yeah. It’s unhealthy to be afraid of everything all the time. Most of the scandals get forgotten after a week or two because there was nothing there to begin with. More people need to unplug from the fear porn and just enjoy life.

It was probably made by some 67-year-old retiree who was the sort of person you’re describing expressing how they felt about the world, but online it’s come to be used as a daft caricature of naive baby boomers.

I don’t think it is really meant to satirize the person doing the grilling, more to make the point that the average person is far more interested in stuff like grilling than politics. So as far as I interpret it, it is making fun of the divide between what the media is perceived to care about and what the average person is perceived to care about.
