“I exploded”

That may be, but Spike is fulfilling the role of emotional support and an anchorpoint in Twilights life following this radical change she underwent: the only constant that has remained the same for her is that Spike does not see Twilight as any form of Monster at all despite how painful the transformation was for both of them pbysically and emotionally.  
To have this small quiet and private moment all to themselves without anypony to look at or judge them, Spike would willingly allow himself to show some vulnerability to help make Twilight feel better by confiding in her what he feels whenever it is just the two of them: that Spike sees Twilight as his mom, and had always wanted to tell her how much he really loves her. Moved by this show of emotion, Twilight would start to also feel the same way about Spike, saying that she was sorry for treating him like an Assistant or a burden at times; that at some point in her life Twilight had wanted to have a kid of her own at some point in the future; only to now realize that she was already blessed with a beautiful son in Spike.
 
Glad to get these emotions off of their chests, Twilight feels a warmth from within her heart as she now fully accepts the fact that Spike IS her son, and that she slowly begins to freak out on all the aspects that parenting entails… only for Spike to calm her down and say that instead of worrying, why not spend some true quality time together to really settle in their deepened bond together by having some fun. Cue the following scene where Twilight is playfully having Spike swing around on her beak for a time.

She seems fine to me. For now anyway. Considering the rather painful transformation the spirit gave her, they seem to get along.

More or less brother and sister time. That and you think twilight would be a nit of an emotional wreck at all of this happening so fast.
