Soooo many blushes. Enjoy some short stories of how all these pony peeps got together

  1. Lightning Dust was in shambles after losing her wing in an aerobatic accident with the Washouts. While in the hospital, feeling so purposeless, she met an optimistic and caring young mare named Vapor Trail. Vapor, too, had left the Wonderbolts. Granted it was her own decision, as she later figured out that being a Wonderbolt just wasn’t what she thought it was. Vapor couldn’t stand by the bullying attitude within the ranks, not because it hurt her, but because she just didn’t ideologically jive with the whole concept. So she sought different areas to explore, leading to her new but probably temporary career as a wing specialist.
She assisted Lightning through several months of therapy, pushing her to survive despite losing everything that made her happy. Lightning was shocked by the pony’s combined tenacity and caring. It kind of altered Lightning’s perspective on things a bit, that one could be passionate, but also empathetic. Long story short, Lightning starts to love the cute nurse pony and the two end up leaving Ponyville together to live out there days in a woodland cabin in the Foal Mountains. Unfortunately, it doesn’t end very well for them.

  2. Sky Stinger is one of the only stallions to ever court Big Mac. Big Mac was pretty quiet about being gay - then again he was quiet about everything - because mares seemed to throw themselves at his big muscles, strong-silent-type vibe and farmboy charm. Also, being the eldest Apple, he felt an obligation to pass on the Apple traditions and have more children to inherit Sweet Apple Acres. After a short but positive marriage to Sugar Belle, whom he genuinely adores and respects, he finally figures out that he would have to try something else. Sugar remains a supportive friend after their separation, and she actually ends up introducing Big Mac to Sky Stinger. Doing some networking at the Grand Galloping Gala, she was able to drop the line to Wonderbolt Sky Stinger that Sweet Apple Acres has the best cider in Equestria. Well, Sky can’t pass up some good cider, so he checks it out.

Oh hot damn, when he spots Big Mac processing the cider, red fur matching the pretty autumn leaves, it is love at first sight. Big Mac is confused when Sky Stinger shows up again after the cider season ends, asking for more cider. Big Mac politely reminds him that there wouldn’t be anymore until next year. Sky, forgetting he was a Wonderbolt for a moment, offers to help Big Mac around the farm, which Macintosh is delighted to accept given that his sisters are pretty busy. Sky Stinger is kind of unsure how he’s going to make this work, but Big Mac’s cute smile and sweetness encourages him. Every day after practice, he would come to the farm, and the two would get along like best bros, despite Big Mac being totally unaware that Sky Stinger’s fumbling attempts at impressing him was a sign that they would be more than friends. Traditional Earth ponies like the Apples just aren’t as acquainted with pegasi courtship instincts, meaning that Sky Stinger’s dancing, nest building and feather fluffing went mostly unnoticed.

It was a long time before Big Mac learned that Sky Stinger liked him, AND that he was a Wonderbolt. Suddenly, Big Mac is like…um…eyup please. Thus the military stallion and the farmboy fall in love and eventually get married.

  3. Trixie Lulamoon was fresh out of her long, abusive relationship with Starlight Glimmer. Her peers could see how much it had affected her. Trixie just wasn’t the playfully egotistical mare she used to be. She was quiet, anxious…always worried she would unintentionally hurt someone. She felt so empty, powerless and so…not great. Everything that Trixie was was killed by Starlight’s manipulation, and whether she had meant it or not, Trixie suffered greatly from Starlight’s actions.

Princess Twilight Sparkle, a pony normally terribly annoyed by Trixie’s antics, starts to feel sorry for her. She invites Trixie to the gala as her date, though it wasn’t a romantic move at all. More of an attempt to cheer her up…but of course, it doesn’t work. The two get into a fight over Starlight Glimmer. Twilight Sparkle claims that Starlight still has good in her and could return to Equestria any time now, and Trixie has no trouble telling Twilight how deluded she is. Twilight is infuriated, not wanting to admit that she was completely in the wrong for defending Starlight, that she was excusing Starlight’s actions just because she wanted her to be her greatest friendship success story.

“Why couldn’t Trixie be your success story?” Trixie asked, voice softened with hurt and a deep bitterness just beginning to surface.

“Because you weren’t bad enough…” The words tumbled out of Twilight’s mouth before she could think, and suddenly it became clear to Trixie that Twilight had lost touch with friendship. That friendship had become a nebulous badge of honor Twilight could show off as princess. Twilight breathed, biting her lip in frustration, “You don’t understand…I’m supposed to be the Princess of Friendship…ponies expect more results than just…mended bonds. If I could befriend one of the greatest villains in Equestrian history, maybe it would mean I do more than just be a glorified relationship counselor-”

“If you really feel that way about friendship, then Trixie doesn’t think you deserve to be Princess at all. Celestia made a mistake.” Trixie gets in Twilight’s face, and despite being quite a bit shorter than the alicorn, Twilight falters behind her critical stare. “Admit it. You failed. You failed to make someone good, and you can’t stand it. Feel sad about it if you want…but, for Celestia’s sake, can’t you see how far you’ve fallen?”

Twilight remains in denial for the rest of the night, leaving the party early just to get away from the truth. But she just can’t help but ponder over Trixie’s words…she wonders that if this were true, why didn’t her other friends talk about it? Why didn’t anyone else tell her that she was wrong to give so much power and status to Starlight? Were they in denial too? Were they just trying to spare her feelings? Or…were they just following her guidance because she was their Princess? How had Twilight lost sight of how much all of it meant?

About a week after the fight, Twilight summons Trixie to her castle for an apology pancake breakfast. It was more than just that though…Twilight had to tell Trixie that she was right about everything, and that if it weren’t for her, who knows what kind of leader Twilight would become. The princess knows that no apology can make up for what happened to Trixie…but maybe they could really start over this time as friends. Trixie accepts, as long as Twilight can finally give her magic lessons without bringing up the whole Alicorn Amulet thing. So the two start working together, with Twilight acting as Trixie’s security blanket when she her trauma became too much to handle. Twilight was so happy to see some of Trixie’s old spark returning, and it kind of made her heart flutter to see the little unicorn’s big smile after each success. Whoops…Twilight kind of started to love to see this pony she once hated being around. There was so much in Trixie that Twilight had never seen before…and although she felt great shame for not seeing Trixie’s value, she really wanted Trixie to feel loved. Without admitting her feelings, Twilight would simply be there for Trixie whenever she needed, whether it be for talking, playing, practicing magic or cuddling. Trixie didn’t want to get into another relationship….but it sure felt nice to know that someone cared deeply for her, and was always there when she needed it. That love could come without all of the heartache and fighting that she had been through with Starlight…it was so nice to see it was possible to be with someone that actually valued her. Also, Twilight Sparkle was a wonderful pony…who couldn’t love that nerdy bookworm princess? While the two don’t consider themselves a couple, they love each other a lot. Not like it’s a secret or anything, given the little teasing moments that leave them both in a bout of snorting laughter and hugs.

  4. Treehugger is a world traveler, spreading a message of inner peace and love. She finds herself in the Peaks of Peril, where she meets Autumn Blaze. The two hook up on a shared love for emotional and physical health, and the doctrine that although feelings are complicated and hard to manage, they are all valid and need to be heard. Since Autumn Blaze still struggles with anger, Treehugger offers her healing services to her. It just so happens that the dreadlocked mare gives probably the best massages in the world, and Autumn is super into it. Treezie invites the kirin on her journeys, and Autumn Blaze responds with a resounding “FUCK YES.” The two are a very happy hippie couple on a spiritual journey through the stars together, and they later marry under the light of a full moon in a field of poppies. It was a pretty low-key wedding, considering no one else was there. Just two lovers realizing they were ready to give their lives to each other. These days, the two of them wander Equestria, continuing to share their love with the world. They hope to have a child…the epitome of everything they believe in, but since ponies and kirin can’t have children together, well…let’s just say there’s room for one more creature eager to join them on their quest of love, kinship and holding hooves and singing Kumbaya.
