Actually, isn’t that how he always was? Personally, I don’t have anything against the Sonic series, (I’ll even say I like his green eyes personally) and I’d rather he wise-crack occasionally then be an emotionless game avatar like he was for a brief period.
 
He only cried in one episode when he failed to save Uncle Chuck, I admit I kinda liked that episode though.  
Still, while I love Sonic SatA.M. looking back on it, I felt like you could replace Sonic, Tails, and Robotnik with any other characters, and it’d pretty much stop being a “Sonic” show altogether.

Yes, because he’s a complete smug cunt. He’s been Flanderized so much from his origins back in the early ‘90s that all he is now is a cool guy who mocks the baddies and spin dashes everything into oblivion.
 
I miss the cartoon where he used to cry. And then Sally would comfort him. And then it’d all be OK until the next episode.
