If Starlight was actually trying to kill Twilight and Spike, then that was one of the most half-assed murder attempts ever, especially considering she showed little to no surprise the next time she saw Twilight, almost like she thought they could’ve gotten out of it.
Plus, you’re missing the part where she ended up getting talked down, later feeling remorse, which has never happened with Cozy Glow.
Absolutely yes, they committed crimes, but they changed, Cozy Glow… didn’t. Twilight tried the “why” with both Starlight and Cozy, but it boiled down to “I want more power than you Twilight” with Cozy Glow, when Twilight had shown nothing but kindness to her.

People call Cozy Glow out for attempted murder but ignore how other characters like Starlight Glimmer and Garble have both attempted murder but were redeem. Remember that Starlight put both Twilight and Spike in a crystal with the intent for them to fall to their death.
And they stated they would get rid of the Windigos.
