Both are crazy old man with issues who struggle with companionship. While discord disappears if he completely changes. Ice king isn’t in control of himself at all to the upmost extent

I’ve been thinking; discord said he was the master of chaos, but chaos, by its very nature, cannot be controlled. so my theory is that discord is star swirl the bearded, but he was transformed when during a time of great dissonance he tried to use a spell to contain the world’s chaotic nature, and it did so by binding the entirety of the world’s chaotic energies to him. he quickly went insane and the time wore the rest of his memories to dust.

This made me look up at my calender(it’s an Adventure Time one, couldn’t find a MLP one).

Maybe Discord was Starswirl the Bearded who went insane after his experiments with magic.
 
Which is doubtful, because >kids show.

But if he starts to kidnap ponies that in some way are like someone he loves, Ice King as a human having a fiance he call “priencess” and then going to kidnap priencesses to merry, then maybe.

Ice king is far more tragic because he’s literally insane and has forgotten who he once was, while Discord is another story that we don’t know much about.
 
He’s probably never had a friend before, I’m guessing, because of how he looked and probably began to resent the idea and decided to become the Spirit of Disharmony because of it, then nopony wanted to be his friend AT ALL.
 
Then comes Fluttershy, who’s willing to put up with him and actually become his friend.

It would appear so.
