I was just worried because I’ve seen a bunch of [post deleted] on your thread, and wanted just a clarification.
 
About free speech, it’s not really a choice: Look at Tumblr’s ban on porn, Furaffinity ban on cub/filly/all kind of “hate symbols”, and this only makes people leave for alternatives, or create the alternatives that will attract more people. It’s clear that’s not what Derpibooru wants. For the legal issues on the content hosted there, I exactly know what we’re talking about. There’s a law here with grey area on what applies to drawn characters, so better safe than in the shit.
 
So communities in general will find profiteable to leave the maximum amount of freedom. Wether it’s depicting nazis, trans, communist characters, and the pic above. Then people have the right to agree or disagree, it’s the same and that clarifies a LOT the stance of the host. In fact it’s a good example that we can live together but think what we want.
 
As I experimented recently in the forums, indeed, there’s no much censorship on the opinions, so anything or almost can be debated if it stays civil.  
Even in this post and [politics in the comments]. it’s good, it forces all, also myself into practicing rhetoric and confront ideas.
 
So yeah that can also be a perception bias on finding out what the neutrality or not of a community.
 
The thing is whatever we are, we will be called always the opposite of our opponent. And indeed, me too I’m a right wing guy, and I’ve been ever called a commie, zionist, hippie, homosexual of all sorts you name it, perhaps even more than being just called a bigot/trump-voter all kind of assumptions.

The rules are pretty clear on where the guidelines for the site stand, I think. They don’t need much interpretation.
 
On free speech, I don’t personally like the “it’s private property” meme, but I also don’t believe a small site like this should be obliged to host content the owner doesn’t like, or that could cause legal problems. It’d be different if this place was able to have any real impact on the lives of its users, where a van could mean ostracism and worse, but it’s just an image repository.
 
One thing that keeps coming up on discussions like this is people thinking derpi mods only go after their “side” (or just after them, personally, in a few notable cases), because they don’t have an overview of mod actions across the site, or only pay attention when they’re personally affected by mod actions. Treatment of “left” and “right” for breaking the rules here is pretty much equal.
 
I know this partly by the roughly equal incidence of people calling me a racist nazi and sjw communist while I was a mod. In fact I think I was called a nazi more often, if you include ~~implications~~ by the more passive-aggressive sorts, which always made me laugh. ;)

“Alt” as an alternative can mean a lot, since there’s many alternatives, not just one, to a mainstream issue. It can be very far-right like neo-nazis, like it can be more liberal or libertarian kind of right. The concept of left and right is sort of, in a sense, obsolete. Like the difference between Bush. Trump and Ron Paul. All are right-wing, some are more extremes and all have different approaches.
 
For the left, all the right means “nazi”. Even myself I try not to do this amalgam, considering all leftists as communists. There are still a lot who call them communists, tankies, just like there are still left-wing people who want the workers to have more rights, without entering a totalitarian regime.

Like I emailed you about, I’d gladly support derpibooru, and this, since a while ago; but that whole question on wether you and your staff decide if yes or no you support free speech, and freedom of opinions in anything else ( which includes the right to parody and the right of all you users to debate and disagree) and what exactly is your view on freedom of speech.
 
As of lately I keep seeing a lot of posts disappearing in the forums and comments. Sure, most are from spammers, trolls or bots, but besides this I’d like to know where you, the site admin, draw the line.
 
Also, are you and your staff politically engaged, and believe there should be a dominant political or societal opinion on your site?
