Detailed syntax guide

Marioland

So, this is an 8 CMC red card that is cast using only green and optionally blue mana, with one generic Phyrexian so you can cast it for only 7 mana and 2 life instead. Welp, already that’s a mess to sort through.

Secondly, the statline is terrible. A card that expensive needs to either do something amazing or have a butt ton of stats, and though 15 attack is impressive, 2 health means this dies to Shock or any other small damage spell, most which cost a ton less. 17 stats isn’t too bad for a big 8 cost creature, but they’re spread in the most terrible way possible.

Thirdly, the abilities are all formatted wrong, since they all lack the colon that denotes where the activation cost ends and the ability begins.

The first ability means nothing unless you keyword “Smile Power”, and even then it costs 16 mana to activate assuming that 3, 4, 4, and 1 all add up. Mana doesn’t usually divide itself up like that at all, so I can only add it up and say that it requires 12 mana of any color. Either way, with a cost that large it better be an enormous step towards winning the game. It really should have the description of what it does in italicized brackets or something.

The second ability also means nothing without knowing what storming Twilight’s castle does or even what Twilight’s Castle is in Magic. Similarly it costs 16 mana (9 of any color, 3 Phyrexian Blue mana, 1 Red, 1 Green, 2 generic) plus an energy counter from the Kaladesh block for some reason. As above, this must be something that just about wins the game on its own for this sort of exorbitant cost.

The third ability actually looks like it could do something, though “Destroy a specific creature card” is maybe a little too niche. that, and destroying something for free should have some stipulation to it.

Overall, the costs are utter nonsense and there’s a ton of flavor fails all over. Why is this red when it has a green/blue casting cost anyways? Why does this tiny little pony have 15 Power? Why does an ability called “Smile Power” require a black mana? Why does it have to do with worms?

0/10 would not try to figure out again.
