I really don’t understand the hatedom on him either. Every other one-dimensional jerk in this show before and after blueblood is liked. Rarity suffered zero side-affects from her encounter with him other one dirty dress and the wake up call not to assume every royal is fairy tale sweet. Other then that every pony at the gala ignored applejack’s food and scoffed at her offerings, everypony glared and was annoyed by pinkie trying to liven the party, no one really acknowledge Twilight any despite her being next the princess. All of them were just as snobby as him.
The only time ponies stopped being somewhat classiest and started to give the main six a little more notice was when Fancy Pants said he thought they were nice. Even then look how long it took before ponies even semi acknowledged or showed any respect to them as fellow ponies or heroes of Equestria.
We have seen before and after blueblood that there are ponies who mock others just for where they come from like when applejack moved to Manehatten. Where are all their fanfics of exaggerated psycho, rapist, racist, and thrown thirsty rich ponies?
Spoiled milk?
Iron will?
Suri polomare?
Sludge?
Even if you like their character more they were still one-dimensional mean and nothing more but I don’t see them demonized to death. I don’t read many MLP fics much now but I recall a high majority of the time it was just blueblood as this for whatever reason in the beginning and even now at times. Same guy scared of dirt and a picky eater. Not even an OC villain or him getting manipulated into follow a villains scheme of some sort without realizing it.

That’s part of the problem. He was only created for a joke, and the writers never expanded from that.
Even most background characters get get little quarks or are seen doing things that give them character without even having speaking roles. But Blueblood didn’t even get that. Every time we saw him in the background, he was practically a statue, showing no character at all.
So basically, all he is, is the joke.
It’s not like he doesn’t have potential to be a decent character, he did get a bit more character in the comic of him and Shining Armor. I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing more of him in the comic. He’s just not very likable as he is now.
@TheSultanAkbar
The problem I think he’s saying is that there is literally nothing else to his character, other than him being an ass.
He’s pretty much one-dimensional.
@NLTLF
The reason most likely to have some jerk characters in TV shows is to represent the real life society a bit more accurately. Just like how there are nice people and there are jerks in real life.
@ApplejackFan204
even Ms harshwinny was more 3 dimensional than that asshole… hell some characters that never said a damn word are more 3 dimensional than blueblood… it’s like he existed solely to be an ass
@Broken Adam
I never said he didn’t have potential to be an interesting character, or even that he is not redeemable, but I certainly wouldn’t call him “cool.”
He’s more the character you love to hate.
@kleptomage
My problem with that is that he’s a great diplomat because he’s capable of being totally fake, and manipulative, and can only connect by finding someone both parties can complain or make fun of. You know, like real life politicians!
@TheSultanAkbar
Yeah, he defeated Nightmare Moon by annoying her and making her not want to be like him in any way…
And in the other one, he was driving Shining Armor crazy, being pompous and condescending, but showed he could manipulate people by getting them to make fun of people (or creatures) that were not present.
