I mean, Blueblood was a nobody. He played no role of any real import, barely had a character and made no appearances beyond background cameos after Season 1. His only real claim to fame is being one of the dozens of Season 1 characters the fandom got attached to – even by the standards of one-off jerk antagonists, he’d be barely noticeable if he had debuted in any season beyond the first.

I honestly do wish they did something with him before it was all over. He along with many one-shots were wasted potential to flesh out more but at least there’s fanfiction for that. Maybe someplace down the line in a future incarnation of the series he’ll be use and given a bit more life then. One of the reasons I feel he’s gotten so much hate even these many years later is because unlike other antagonists he’s one a person is more likely to meet or have already met in real life.
 
None of us will ever meet a human that can shape shift, drain our bodies of energy with lasers, or us magic to ruin our lives. Many have however met someone who’s a bit full of themselves and then some, a bad date, or both. I don’t see these as reasons not to flesh a character out though.

I wasn’t saying that Blueblood is like Hitler, or comparing the two in any way, I was just illustrating the point that more appearance in illustrations/animations does not necessarily translate to greater popularity. Hitler just happened to be the best example I could think of to deliver on that point.
 
The meanest thing I said is that Blueblood doesn’t have any friends. Which, I’m not wrong, unless you count the Friends Forever comic where he costars with Shining Armor, though I’d say that’s a bit of a stretch.

Yeah, you can’t really go by that, since he’s been around way longer than most of these other characters, being a Season 1 character. Also, I think a fair amount of the fanart of him was making fun of him.
 
That’s like saying Ford is the most popular make of automobile because through history, Ford has sold more vehicles than other companies, even though there was a time that Ford was the only make, and thus had 100% of automobile sales.

That was actually answered back when he first appeared by Lauren Faust. He is apparently a distant nephew several generations removed from the royal sisters’ mother’s side of the family. If I remember it right.

Because he’s Season 1. I can’t think of any non-background filler Season 1 characters who don’t get fanart on at least a weekly basis. Maybe the Diamond Dogs. On the flipside, there’s Season 9, where literally no one gets fanart or fanfic except Luster Dawn, Grogar and Li’l Cheese, and occasionally Wind Sprint. Maybe also Clear Sky. That leaves at least six characters who are worse off than Dinky.

Well, Sunset is a part of the series, (a fairly big part, being the main focus of several movies and a few crossovers), and a close, personal friend of Twilight, so yeah, she does fit the bill.  
I’d say it’s a bit more odd for Capper to be there myself.
