The writers of Season 7-9 have nothing in common with the writers from seasons 1-3 except Fame and Misfortune. Look up the writers per season and see.
They probably really did forget he existed he hasn’t been so much as mentioned in canon for over 8 years, plus the writers generally didn’t know what they were doing from season 7ish till the end
Blueblood just wasn’t a monster. He never was. In fact, you can easily argue he’s a better pony than Trixie, in a few ways because he never was shown to seek revenge for humiliation.
A (male) member of the royal family on par with Cadance before she was married and her kingdom showed up.
His very existence raises questions.
Doesn’t matter what meta reason he was made for, his absence after the fact is made all the more glaring by the increasing status of the main characters.
Because it would only make sense for him to be a bigger deal.
Why? He’s a one-dimensional one-episode character who’s sole purpose in the story was to be a subversion to the ‘Prince Charming’ trope. I can think of at least a dozen characters who had way more potential for future episodes than he does, and yet everyone ignores them and keep bringing up this guy for some reason.
He only showed up in one episode and had no personality beyond being a snobby jerk. Plus, he didn’t befriend any of the Mane Six or played a huge part in their development. I mean, if we put Blueblood in that group, we might as well add Sludge, Suri Polomare, Gladmane or Lightning Dust (at least she showed up in more than one episode) while we’re at it.
To this day, I still don’t get why people make such a big deal of this character.
