One thing I will agree with people on is the actual animation looks way worse than the promo images we were apparently shown before so I’ll give them that.
 
As for the person that said the new bits of animation we saw were supposed to represent what to expect from the show, I agree, they are supposed to give it their all here. But this also still doesn’t show clips from any actual episodes, we don’t know what the jokes are like anything. The writing could still be okay, and the animation could also get better over time. I’ve seen trailers of all kinds, and some do a really bad job at showing us what the show/movie will actually be like.

Personally I wouldn’t mind an art change if it wasn’t such a blatant downgrade and chasing the now dying beanmouth trend that ravaged CN for the past decade.  
Plus the ad didn’t do any favors for keeping the characters consistent despite using their likeliness.

I got into the series mid-season 6, so as far as I’m concerned, seasons 1-3 was a jumble of generic kids cartoon single episode lessons with the occasional sparks of good writing. (Who here remembers when Fluttershy yelled at a dragon? That was a good lesson in uh… yelling at dragons. But hey, it gave the community ‘Fluttershy yelling at dragons’-meme!)
 
Part of the whole point of a promo is to be representative of the final version. If the final version turns out to be radically different from the promo, thats not the fault of speculators. Thats the fault of the makers of the promo.

Truthfully, the original 2-part pilot didn’t hook me either at first. It was ok, but looking back, the characters were pretty Flanderized before we get to know them, (to the point even Twilight gets creeped out by all these “crazy ponies trying to make friends all the time”) so it doesn’t really start to establish them until the second part, and episodes after.  
The adventure elements, and the “good demigod VS bad demigod” backstory was nice, but honestly when I first saw it, it seemed on par with some of the CGI Barbie movies I had to watch with my neice. I didn’t come to appreciate the original 2-part pilot until after I saw more episodes, and got used to the show.
 
Frankly, I didn’t start to get into the show until I watched “Ticket Master.”

I don’t put faith in Hasbro to do the right thing. I put faith in creative artists, writers and other talented people to actually make a good product. At least once I see their work, and get a general vibe for how their work tends to measure.
 
I have no idea what kind of crew is actually working on this show though. I would be very worried if the actual writers from TTGO were on board, but I don’t think they are.
 
Anyway the problem is, like I keep telling people, I haven’t seen enough to get an idea of what this will be like. We haven’t even seen an actual real clip of the show - just a weird promo thing. I’d wait before at least one episode before panicking, and even after that I’d still give it a season or so before dismissing it.
 
This may be an unpopular opinion but I actually think many of the oldest G4 episodes - especially the pilot - are the worst examples of the show. For me things didn’t really get special until season the tail end of s1 and season 2.

If anything, they didn’t put enough toy tie-ins into the last several seasons of MLP:FIM.
 
Heck “Fiddlesticks” finally got a blindbag toy, and that was a Season 2 character. If Hasbro was truely obsessed with profiting off the MLP brand, they sure aren’t even doing a good job of it frankly.

I honestly haven’t seen Teen Titans Go but the general sum of what I’ve heard about it is: “it sells, but the writing is erratic as hell.”
 
To bring things back to MLP: theres nothing wrong with ‘hoping’ things turn out a certain way, but this isn’t a religion. Don’t put “faith” in Hasbro to “do the right thing”. “Expect” Hasbro to “do the profitable thing”.

TTG is far from a great show, but honestly it’s not the worst show either.

I certainly remember some people talking to me about how TTG turned around, especially with the movie, so you are not the only one in that regard.

Actually, from what I’ve seen Beast Boy still says he’s vegetarian in the new show, but as I said I don’t watch TTG much, so I dunno how consistent that is.
 
Some TT fans also forget the old show was full of occasional goofy humor, and exaggerated anime style expressions, and such. It wasn’t really as constantly grimdark, or as serious as some say it was. It was meant to be both an occasionally serious, and occasionally comical action show. (Kinda like Ninja Turtles.)  
TTG however is mostly meant to be comical, but oddly as I said it has a few rare good action moments, and rare serious moments too.
 
Heck, surprisely “Unikitty” has some oddly touching/cute moments, so I kinda hope “Pony Life,” will be a li’l like Unikitty maybe. (Which is not a perfect show, but not bad either.)

Also TTGO did actually get everyone really out of character in general. Cybrog went from an actually really mature and responsible person - a guardian even - to a reckless bro-dude like Patrick Star with a football fan twist. Meanwhile Beast Boy was shown to have an interest in food that has meat in it despite the previous show having him directly state he’s a vegetarian “Because I’ve like, been most of those animals, man”

And I know I’ll take flack for this, but as I’ve said TTG has had it’s occasional genuinely funny/clever moments, when it’s not being too hyperactive, or too mean-spirited. (That one 1980s-ish rock opra episode was surprisingly well animated, and surprisingly serious, and that song was catchy) Even those who hate TTG admit the movie was surprisingly good.
 
So maybe TTG isn’t all bad, but I doubt Hasbro would let MLP get that edgy, or mean-spirited frankly.

I mean just look at this. This says it’s an edit but it also doesn’t have an artist listing so I’m going to assume these vectors are real images that were released. The characters seem to behave correctly for this image, Fluttershy’s not a spazz here.
 
 
tbh if Teen Titans Go didn’t exist, I think most of the knee-jerk reaction to the announcement video simply /would not exist/. Everyone’s just getting triggered over this because we know what it’s like when things go way wrong and no one’s willing to give the benefit of the doubt as easily as they would otherwise.

Thing is though we don’t know for sure if they’re going to stay this out of character or if they were just overly goofy and happy for their announcement video, because this is a party for them.
 
If this were a G4 trailer for a new season and the art style was G4, but for a single clip Fluttershy acted like a silly weirdo like this, we wouldn’t be angry, we’d find it cute and endearing because we know what she’s normally like and that was just a rare moment of her being funnily out of character. With this, we’re all a little uneasy because we haven’t yet seen a clip of what Fluttershy or any of the other characters are actually going to be like in /this/ show - I don’t think we even know if the voice actors are returning. So it’s not unreasonable to be skeptical, but I also don’t think it’s 100% proven that they will ALWAYS be this out of character. I’d rather wait and see for myself than jump to conclusion.

Because ‘good design’ doesn’t mean ‘fits the character(s)’.
 
Goofy, hyper happy Pinkie is great. Goofy, hyper happy Rarity is weird. Goofy, hyper happy Fluttershy is just plain bizarre.

For some reason, this is giving me a Cuphead vibe.

To be honest, the design is cool, but too much exaggerated which makes them seem to be off-character.

Talking about what they did with the characters, it’s NOT cool.
