If I got his magic I’d probably just leave their universe entirely, as now that I’m a god I’d have many new things I want to try out

id take his magic, destroy the bell, and kill him with his own magic.

Honestly the punishment I would give him is just not let him get his magic back till he earns back everyone’s trust he damaged by this plan. And probably other stuff too.

They gave mercy a chance when they didn’t recast his 1000 year petrification spell  
He broke out and turned Equestria into chaos and nearly split the elements of harmony
 
They gave mercy another chance when they released him despite this  
He tried to turn the element of kindness against them
 
They gave mercy another chance when they let that slide  
He turned on them the second Tirek offered him power
 
They gave mercy ANOTHER chance when they didn’t punish him for that either  
He revived Sombra, teleported him passed the Crystal Empire’s defenses, got the the Tree of Harmony destroyed and almost got the mane 6 killed. He released Cozy Glow and Tirek from prison, united them with a Chrysalis in hiding, told them their best chance at victory was teamwork, hooked those three up with a superpowerful artifact and pretty much nearly doomed Equestria in the process.
 
Plenty of mercy. He just used it all up!

After receiving so many extra chances, one tends to forget that one can run out.

Here’s how I think it would’ve happened:
 
After the near-tragic “Battle of the Bell”, Discord was put on trial for his role in the conflict. Thousands of creatures were endangered by Discord’s short-sighted attempt to prepare Princess Twilight for the worst, and hundreds called for his punishment in the name of justice. At the same time, Discord showed undeniable remorse for his actions, and his active efforts to contain and cease the conflict were corroborated by several witnesses.
 
A verdict of guilt was beyond debate, as was punishment of statue encasement in the Canterlot Garden. However, at Princess Twilight’s insistence, his sentence was reduced to approximately thirty moons, one day to match every call for his punishment. Furthermore, his statue would be animated for ten minutes each week, allowing him to converse with garden visitors and change his pose.

Fun fact: Thousands of years ago, Dian plunged the world into chaos before being defeated by the Four Great Magicians and then frozen while posing dramatically. One of his powers involves turning Jewelpets to the opposite of their respective virtues. Eventually, he turns characters to stone. He’s also good after his debut season. Sounds like Discord is actually a Dian ripoff.

yeah and can you tell me how they are gonna do that…without the elements…also 3 villains was turned to stone by alicorn magic AND chaos magic.
