I was so excited to see a good portion of y’all wanted to see my double headcanon for Blueblood and Thorax, so here we go!

Duke Blueblood

Born to a wealthy unicorn couple distantly related to the royal family, Blueblood had everything handed to him on a silver platter. With Celestia and Luna as his great aunts and Cadance as his cousin, it was normal for him to almost be raised in the Canterlot Castle by his governesses and tutors. He rarely saw his parents, except for grand occasions at the castle, and often felt lonely even in the constant company of servants and guards.

Blueblood’s parents, Posh Patrician and Debutante, “raised” their only child to care for the finer things. They were sure to make polite conversation with their son whenever they saw him at extravagant Canterlot events, but their talks rarely lasted longer than a minute or two. Even with their noncommittal attitude towards Blueblood, they made sure to drill a few rules into his head though his governesses: everyone wants something from you, true love is for morons, you must outsmart everyone around you, and relationships or marriage have to be for advantage. They also made it very clear that non-heterosexual, non-cisgender, and non-pony creatures were absolutely abhorrent and filthy, and didn’t make it unknown of their strong opinions.

Like a good portion of his family, Blueblood received his cutie mark in leadership. The compass needles on his flank represent his skilled ability to help send ponies on the path to success and well-being, but he seemed to lose his own way shortly after getting his cutie mark. He seemed to have no interest in helping other people when he felt so lost.

Being a part of a high status, Blueblood had only the best when it came to education, housing, and anything else his heart desired. He was very popular among students while he was attending Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns and regularly had young mares confessing their love to him every other week. He rejected them all swiftly, remembering what his elders had taught him. After all, these mares didn’t know anything about him, they just cared about his family’s wealth and power. Blueblood felt no real connection to the mares who threw themselves at him and avoided them unless he absolutely had to bring someone to an event and make a good show in front of his parents.

By the time Blueblood was an adult, he had seemed to become a callous and skeptical pony, just like his parents. He believed anyone who tried to get close to him just wanted something from him and trying to meet mares didn’t help. His parents regularly tried to set him up with other wealthy and high-born mares, which he feigned enjoyment with only when eyes were on him. But when he was alone, he couldn’t seem to resist staring at the male guards in the castle.

The night Blueblood met Rarity was the night he snapped. It wasn’t uncommon for mares to approach him at galas, but Rarity’s strong attempts to have the two be an instant match was enough to set him off. He decided that if she was so convinced that he was the one, he would act like the biggest jerk in the world. He made sure to put himself first, making her put down her own shawl in a muddy area and slamming doors in her face all throughout the night. And when she called him out at the end of the event, he had never felt more accomplished. Blueblood was positive that Rarity would never try to be with him again.

After awhile (and after hearing about his behavior at the Grand Galloping Gala), his parents started to question him on when a mare would be good enough for him and when he would decide to choose another high-born to marry. He pretended as though he was simply following the rules of his parents and working to outsmart everyone else around him to work a mare to his advantage for marriage, and his claims seemed to subside them temporarily.

Thorax

Being the runt of his group of eggs, Thorax was born later and smaller than the others. He was regularly picked on by his hive mates because of this and fortunately, Pharynx was there to help him out whenever things got too rough. He tended to stay close to Pharynx, and the two became “brothers”. This bond was beneficial for both of them, as hive life was rough for everyone under Chrysalis’s rule.

Without a regular source of love to feed from, the hive suffered from starvation and sickness. Those who were born into the hive at this time, like Thorax, tended to be weak and discolored. Changelings started to do whatever they had to in order to provide for the hive, which included kidnapping and murder. Thorax always felt so terrible when he would see ponies (or bodies) coming in and out of the hive, but occasionally felt too hungry to care.

During the battle in Canterlot, Thorax stayed away from the action as much as possible. He didn’t want to hurt anybody and figured that he would be too weak to do any real damage anyway, so he kept out of the way and pretended to patrol during most of the fight. When all of the changelings were blasted out of the city from Shining Armor and Cadance’s magic, they all landed in separate areas around Equestria. Some made it back to the hive, but Thorax took this as a perfect opportunity to explore the world outside his hive and escape from the constant hostile environment.

Thorax wandered for a good long while, disguising himself as a very generic pony to filter in scraps of love from towns and cities. He was barely getting by, but he was content knowing that he wasn’t hurting anybody. While he traveled from time to time, Thorax mind would always turn back to the battle of Canterlot and the amount of love that he could sense coming from the Mane 6 and the royal family. He wondered what their lives were like and how happy they must all be together.

Not knowing about the reappearance of the Crystal Empire, the defeat of Sombra, or the birth of the new princess, Thorax felt suddenly pulled towards the kingdom. Nearly starving, he followed his instincts and headed towards the Crystal Empire, finding Cadance, Shining Armor, and Persephone (aka Flurry Heart). With the Crystalling boosting all moral and love in the kingdom, Thorax thought a whole hive could live off so much emotion. But because of what had happened at Canterlot, the guards seemed extra wary of anything non-pony that entered the vicinity and raised an alarm when they spotted Thorax on the edge of the Crystal Empire.

After Spike spoke up for Thorax, he finally felt welcome for the first time in his life. There were ponies that still seemed wary of his presence, but the royal family made it clear that Thorax was the same as any other citizen of the Crystal Empire. Without having to wear a disguise he was able to be himself, save his energy, and enjoy life.

Nothing could prepare Thorax for his battle with Chrysalis, and even more so with his sudden metamorphosis and change in status. Unlike the duller counterpart of the changelings, Thorax was now more colorful than he thought anyone in his hive could be. While his colors may not be appealing to most, his changed appearance is helpful in establishing his role in the hive and allowing him to “peacock” in order to attract mates for the future of the hive. Thorax, just like any other potential leader of the changelings, will be bigger and brighter than any of their subjects.

Even though he is now a ruler of a small kingdom, Thorax hasn’t seemed to change a bit. He still believes in kindness over everything else and treats his subjects how they deserve to be treated. Because of the newfound ability to share love, the changelings are no longer starving and fighting over food. And without the worry of needing more drones simply to build an army to attack the Equestrian population, there was no need for the ruler to be the main source of offspring. Because of this, Thorax decreed that any and all changelings are encouraged to form their own bonds in their kingdom and be with whoever they want. Because of Thorax’s rule, the changelings have become less hostile by the day and seem to enjoy the idea of having normal lives.

And here’s a sneak peek into their relationship:

After the reformation of the Changeling Kingdom, it was regular for Thorax and his small court to travel to Canterlot to spend time with the royal family. Thorax was more than eager to ask for help when it came to ruling and would often go to the princesses for advice. He also seemed to enjoy the sillier things, like tea time and pancake breakfast with the royals and became great buddies with Celestia and Luna. And of course, Celestia wanted any excuse to spend time with friends, which means Thorax and his court were invited to any gala or event in the city.

Thorax accepted any invitation from the princesses and tried his best to be at any event he could make time for. He especially loved going to the Grand Galloping Gala, since he knew all of his friends would be attending. It was on a night like this that Thorax spotted Blueblood standing by himself. When Rarity and Applejack saw him, they immediately warned Thorax that he was one of the most rude ponies they had ever met and he wasn’t worth trying to chat with. But Thorax’s kind heart couldn’t ignore that all he could think of was how lonely Blueblood looked. He decided to gently tell his friends that he appreciated their input, but he wanted to try and make some conversation with the stallion.

At first, Blueblood seemed pretty skeptical of some random creature coming up to him and trying to make conversation out of the blue. But it became clear after a little while that Thorax had absolutely no idea who Blueblood was and he didn’t really seem to care. This shocked Blueblood, having always depended on his wealth and status to show himself off or drive the conversation to speak of boring things like investments or the next big event.

Whenever Thorax came to visit Canterlot, he would be sure to have a small chat with Blueblood and if he wasn’t there, he would be sure to leave a note saying hello. The two would regularly walk in the gardens and talk about silly things, like the gossip from one kingdom or another. Blueblood felt himself be able to relax and not have to strut around like he normally did, which after a lifetime of doing was nice to not.

Even if neither one noticed, the two had developed feelings for each other over the constant visits and chats. Without having to worry about things like royal protocol and peacocking around for the public, the two were able to relax and be comfortable together. Trying to be subtle but failing miserably, Thorax would pick flowers from the garden on their walks and hand them to Blueblood or stick them in his hair. And while Blueblood would occasionally try to act too manly for flowers, he couldn’t deny how great it felt to be courted instead of doing the wooing.

Even though Blueblood knew about his developing feelings for Thorax, he tried to keep their meetings secret. While he was an adult, he was still constantly worried about how his parents would react to him becoming close with not only a changeling, but a male-identifying creature. He could be ruined by his family and cast out, lost in a world where he only knew how to be pampered and taken care of. Whenever he’s stressed, the conversation always seems to move to this topic and Thorax is always there to listen, no matter how many times he hears it.

One night, when Blueblood was far too anxious about somebody seeing them together, decided to stay in his room for the night. Wanting to help, Thorax decided to bring up some tea and snacks. Blue (as Thorax likes to affectionately call him) vented about his problems as a duke and about his family. Even though Thorax could probably repeat everything by heart already, he listened with an open ear all night. The stress seemed to be too much for Blueblood and he leaned on his companion emotionally and physically, just wanting to be able to be open about himself to everyone else. And in a moment of need, Blue kissed Thorax and the two seemed to leave the world behind, just for a moment.
