Most of the fanon ideas are recycled from other media like veideogames or anime.  
I’d say is the other way round, canon is a bit better than fanon.

OH look the Chrysalis fandom boys are out again.
 
Sorry, but most of the Chrysalis fandom writing is nothing more than victimizing the hell out of her in cliche ways to manipulate symapthy out of easily gullible people.
 
But considering the fandom seems to consists of late teen and adults trying to appropriate a simple children’s show and whining when it is, it’s unsurprising when they whine about about it being a simple children’s show.

I agree, but Mixermike had some solid animating and story chops. Way easier to make a panel comic with a punchline than a 3 minute animation with an entire story.
