I disagree, IMO a lot of the fandom ideas about the characters and plot aren’t even original, most of them are from some other references like movies, anime, videogames, etc. This fandom has a lot of good art, but when it comes to stories I think isn’t that great.

Agreed, but even with the case of Starlight, some fans felt her “tragic backstory” was kinda tacked-on, and such. So it doesn’t always work that way.

A villain can be fleshed out, while having no backstory what so ever. Just look at Starlight. When she was first introduced, we didn’t know anything about her backstory. Yet, she was much more down to earth than the previous villains, and had motives beyond just wanting to take over the world.

She doesn’t necessarily need a 50 page bio either. There is such a thing as overdoing it, as well.

I prefer her as a villain, as well. But, you’re still missing the point. A villain can still have layers to their character, while still being villain. She doesn’t need to be one dimensional.

I don’t see her as such, as she has reasons to want vengeance on Twilight/Starlight/ect., and such.  
And not every villain needs some tragic backstory, and such.
 
And honestly like her better in canon as a badass villainous queen as opposed to some goofy, OOC, cutesty-acting, bug-mama waifu common in fanon.

That’s probably why the show writers didn’t wanna kill off the villains, yet some fans are still oddly acting like they are dead forever.

The show didn’t actually resolve Chrysalis’s arc. Sure, she’s in stone prison, but name one villain who was imprisoned​/​banished​/​stuck in Limbo and didn’t come back sooner or later. So unless the “season 10” comics try to do something more with her, her future is completely up for the fandom to decide, more so than ever before.

I’m sorry, but I don’t see a random villain, stripped of all their personality, and ‘shipped with a random OC in a “not meant to be taken seriously parody fan series” as “superior to the show’s writing.”
 
But that’s just my opinion…
 
And if the entire show is that badly written, then I don’t think we’d all be here on this site.

I like her better as a badass relentless, villainous queen over just being ’shipped with a random OC, and barely doing anything.

In fact, some popular fan interpretations are actually worse then canon, in my opinion.

What denial? Many people disliked the canon and how they finished this show. To have such an opinion isn’t denial…

Man the denial is super hard.

The fanbase in general has handled all the characters and plot threads better than anything in canon.
