-Pinkie having a confirmed kid while showing the others not having kids when they look that age means they’re past the age to conceive. Look a Ms Cake and the Mane 6’s parents. ALL looked younger than the Mane 6 in the epilogue and their kids were teens at this point. If you’re going to go the route of “ohh we’ll leave it ambiguous, don’t show any kids or say all the kids are at the <insert place here>”
 
Basically, the epilogue was half-assed. They couldn’t put any thought or creativity into who the mane 6 would end up with or what their kids would look like besides Pinkie Pie. If you’re going to be this damn lazy with an epilogue DON’T DO AN EPILOGUE!
 
It’s pretty damn clear Twilight’s outliving them based on how she’s literally a Celestia reskin, with no bags under her eyes or wrinkles.

I just find this sort of thing baffling. I watched every episode of every season from the beginning all the way to the very end of the series, and I can’t recall a single moment in all that time I was legitimately angry at the show. Were there a few episodes I didn’t feel the need to watch again anytime soon? Sure. Were there some I thought had issues, or maybe could have been done better? Absolutely. But I still enjoyed all of them, and even now the worst I think I could say about any of them is that it’s disappointing they sometimes left briefly mentioned but interesting ideas without a proper conclusion.

Dian is essentially a far superior version of Discord. Dian is smart and hot, his episodes don’t rely on stupidity to move the plot forward, and when he’s good, he’s not a liability.

The first four seasons were good. In my opinion, S4 was the best season. S5 was alright with the exception of the premire and finale which wasn’t my cup of tea. S6-S9 was when it went downhill

I feel like the ending could’ve been done better (heck I liked how all of Equestria united) and would’ve saved the season. Here’s how the ending should’ve gone in my mind:
 
Villains defeated, pinned under giant cupcake  
Discord: I have an idea, 1000 year petrification spell?~  
Celestia: No, you caused this mess trying to “redeem” them, you’re going to see it through. Take these three- Wait revives Sombra FOUR to your chaos realm. They have, if even a little, demonstrated that they are capable of learning friendship. You are tasked with rehabilitating them no matter how long it takes, and they are not to be released until you are certain they are and will assume full responsibility if they act out.  
Discord: But-  
Celestia: NO BUTS!  
Discord: scowls Fine… Snaps fingers, poofing the 4 away  
**After credits pan to Discord’s cottage **  
Villains running amok, causing a ruckus and ignoring Discord  
pan to Discord as the villains continue arguing, Chrysalis and Sombra blasting at each other in the background  
Discord: I think being a statue for another 1000 years would be preferable to THIS…

With this ending, you leave the villains unredeemed, but having their threat gone and leaving the viewer to decide if they ever change and Discord gets his comeuppance. Feels more kid friendly and more acceptable for those who did like the villains a bit. The whole point of this show is friendship is magic, them getting turned to stone and remaining that way in the epilogue completely undermines that. Speaking of the epilogue…
 
 
Scrap the epilogue. Let us imagine where the mane 6 would end up ourselves.

Didn’t really care for S4 & S5 but loved S6. Pretty meh on S7 and stopped watching about a third of S8. Ironically, it wasn’t an ep I watched that made me stop, it was a synopsis of one that hadn’t been released yet. The ‘Father knows Beast’ synopsis got released and I could still remember so many commenters predicting how bad they’d mess up such a golden opportunity ep like that one. They even predicted the plot out. Reading the predictions, I knew it would only make me rage watching it so I just dropped the series after that. Went back and read the plot online later and, lo and behold, the commenters shitting on it got pretty much everything right. I think ‘Fake it til you make it’ was the last ep I saw. It was pretty meh to me anyway so it really wasn’t that hard to step away after that. Good thing I did, heard the rest of S8 and S9 were kinda snorefests and dumb plots.

The disappointment started with season 5, they nailed it with the catastrophic season 6 and gave the final blow with season 9

-Discord was the whole reason the villains became a threat as he released them from Tartarus/revived/teamed them up/gave them a super weapon  
-Received no punishment for being responsible for the Tree of Harmony dying, Crystal Empire being attack, the mane 6 nearly dying for Equestria being taken over  
-Three villains shown to actually demonstrate friendship and defend each other in combat even if it meant they took damage  
-Petrified anyways  
-Epilogue shows all the ponies we love old and tired, only Pinkie Pie had a spouse and a kid, Twilight’s outliving her friends. End.

Here’s the thing, she only developed the show. She wasn’t the reason it was good. And with all due respect, she’s been gone for years so whatever she had in mind doesn’t hold water anymore. She even admitted that tweet she made about “the REAL reason Luna escaped from her ‘time out’” was a mistake.

I never understood the Lauren Faust argument. She left at, what, the start of Season 2? Like, Season 2, 3, and 4 are great. And Starlight would’ve been a fine addition, IMO, were it not for the reintroduction of Sunburst and her befriending Trixie. Plus her backstory could’ve definitely used a tune up.

So you didn’t like the school and the Student Six then? I can respect that, most of my tolerance for it comes from knowing that it was mostly a corporate mandate and it was the lesser of two evils, that being the writers somehow having to contrive a situation where the Mane Six went back to school (assuming I’m remembering that detail right). I do feel like you have to be of a certain mindset to enjoy those episodes and I think I just barely have it.
