Sounds more like the argument of a purist. I’m a major fan of the books, and yet I find what Jackson changed by having the elves fight at Helm’s Deep a good change.
And what exactly did the elves coming to Helm’s Deep “erase” from Tolkien’s meanings? If anything it added more because it showed that not all hope is lost if the elves still have enough faith in humanity to come to their aid and ensure their future.
