Yep. The ponies should have to take back his magic for, say, a year so he has to work through life like others so he finally learns some humility.
You can’t always save everyone. it’s unfortunate, but that’s the way it is.
Seriously. It’s not like no one’s tried to reform them. It’s not like friendship has never been offered. They’ve even come close on their own, once. But they also chose to reject it. Heck, one of those three even spent an extended period of time in Twilight’s school, learning about friendship and surrounded by ponies who treated her kindly, and even after all that she still chose the path of evil, and attempted power.
Ultimately there’s a point when you have to realize that some individuals don’t want to be fixed.
@Surprise
Ok, good point. What I meant was more something like that Chrysalis would give up on revenge, but still, keep her worldview like that she is still best queen, knows everything best, be snarky etc.
@Background Pony #0D8E
This would a far more satisfying ending than in the finale. The best scenario, if Chryssi reforms but keep her personality and doesn’t metamorphose.
@Harshie83
If they return, I really wish they will, I’m interested in what approach to Chrysalis would be. In the earlier IDW comics, she is far eviler then in the show. I guess this time she would be more pleasant to be around.
I’d like to see the villains return in the comics, but frankly only if they reform. It would be kind of a rehash of the finale to have them be released, do thier evil plan, and then be turned back to stone.
Yeah, the show got riddled with issues like that throughout the latter half. Kinda like Steven Universe, only the fan reaction to saying that is somehow even worse.
@Red-Supernova
What do you think is the probability that the trio will appear in IDW continuation? I get the trio is perhaps not the biggest attraction but on the other hand, I think the dynamic between this tree is worth at lest few episodes.
@Penguin Dragneel
It was in the second episode of the S9 finale I believe.
And DUDE, EXACTLY. That irritated the frig out of me because Storm in terms of actions really didn’t do anything wrong in comparison to Tempest. Like unlike him we actually SAW what she was capable of inflicting, and she was far more serious/edgy compared to him too, so it made absolutely zero sense to me that we’re supposed to hate the cute, goofy character and yet feel sorry/good for the legitimate bitch character that was causing trouble throughout the entire course of the movie.
The worst part is whenever I attempt to explain this to people, I’m either completely ignored or they force me into dropping the subject, which is just outright frustrating.
@Necrofeline
What episode was that? I don’t remember hearing it in Twilight’s Kingdom.
Also, Tempest’s redemption kinda annoyed me, especially since they decided to kill off the more goofy Storm King, who literally did nothing compared to the bad things Tempest did.
@Penguin Dragneel
It was brought up in the canon itself though that Tirek has issues with his father; Discord mentioned it and judging by how triggered Tirek got in response I’m guessing yeah, it’s pretty much true.
Also bruh that’s the part that annoys me the most about Tempest’s “golden calf” treatment in general; people I’ve talked to are INCREDIBLY hypocritical about anything regarding her actions/reformation and I’ve only had to say like one sentence for them to force me into dropping the subject. It’s borderline painful ;w;
@Necrofeline
Chrysalis was evil even before she lost her kingdom, and in terms of Tirek, the IDW comics are up in the air about canonicity.
Also, I completely forgot about Tempest there for a sec. Goes to show how much of an impact she had. But yes, while that definitely IS a problem with the movie, she never actually appeared in the series afterwards (aside from the finale cameo).
@Penguin Dragneel
Arguably, Tempest Shadow did far worse than these three in the fact that she essentially committed treason against her homeland and flat-out led a direct attack against world leaders, and for an arguably pretty minor and petty reason. She still got like instantly forgiven despite these things. :P
I wouldn’t say that these three are evil “for the lulz” exactly, either. We don’t know the specifics on Cozy sadly, but Tirek and Chryssie have obvious emotional/mental damage from past trauma if any of the hinted lore is to be indicated. Chrys essentially lost everything she had worked for in a split-second and Tirek obviously has neglect/“daddy” issues, so I wouldn’t say that they don’t have a reason for being who they are.
