If Sombra is good in the comics, then why is he still bad in Season 9? Are there two incarnations of Sombra?

@overthemaginot
I agree. Season 9 is so forced, awkward and quite frankly unpleasant. Not just the lame character development but also the lacklustre plot.

The thing is its ultimately Spike that screwed him over pretty much.
Since he got Twilight out of Sombra’s fear-door trap and got the crystal heart to Cadance.
And the fact the Crystal Ponies literally worship Spike as the hero who is credited for stopping Sombra.
Pretty sure Sombra would be pissed that his very “slaves” are viewing a baby dragon as the one who stopped him. Like it would hurt his pride that when he realizes from that that he ultimately got foiled due to a baby dragon(Spike) and said Crystal Ponies having a statue of Spike there. That would surely be embarrassing for a lord of darkness such as him in a way.

That’s still a subjective opinion, and whether it’s better or not is simply irrelevant to the point I’m trying to make. I sure as hell didn’t see your ‘superior theory’ when I watched the episodes, and would have no way of knowing about it if people like you guys hadn’t brought it up on the internet later. Lazy writing is actually way more plausible for me to believe than them secretly writing Sombra to be a elaborate decoy created by Discord.

However, if you want to believe it, then by all means, continue to do so.

@TheSultanAkbar
… That would be a fair point, for any other character.
Sombra JUST came back. He had no idea who Twilight was in the Season 3 premiere, let alone in the season 9 premiere. He doesn’t even know she’s royalty, the last time he “saw” her - if he even did, it wasn’t even clear - she was a unicorn.
This isn’t a “fuss”, this is one of the points of the theory.

Dude, wtf. What’s wrong with Sombra knowing where they’re from? Twilight is an internationally known royalty, practically the only reason anyone even comes to Ponyville. You’re making too much of a fuss of it.

>baseless
>stupid theories

Well, really, a theory CAN be more superior than canon. Canon isn’t perfect, especially when its characters know things they shouldn’t and the premiere is riddled with terrible writing… Such as Sombra somehow knowing what and where EXACTLY Ponyville is, and that the Mane 6 are from it, and even knowing who the Mane 6 are despite not seeing any of them before…
If canon is riddled with bad writing and things that can’t be explained, then a theory is preferred because it explains things. Such as Sombra somehow knowing those things. The Sombra clone theory perfectly fixes it since it just means Discord provided him with the information.
But if you want to bend over for canon despite it making literally no sense whatsoever just because >MUH HASDRONE, then by all means, do so. You have a right not to believe in a theory. Just don’t say the theory is inferior to a conceptually faulted canon, because it’s not.

You are all really REALLY wrong for believing in this theory! Your theory makes no sense and I could EASILY disprove it.

For the record, I never actually said that. I just said it shouldn’t be treated as canon, not that you’re not allowed to believe it.

tl;dr comment section:
You are all really REALLY wrong for believing in this theory! Your theory makes no sense and I could EASILY disprove it.
However, I’m not going to disprove the plot holes because it’s just a theory.
However, I’m still going to say you’re wrong. You can’t PROVE it (even if you literally have).
Sounds like the time in year 2 when I was 7 and the class was talking about chips. The teacher asked us what chips are made of, and I wanted to sound smart. So I said to her “I know how you make them, but I’m not going to say so!”
Kind of funny tbf

I’m sorry if I used harsh language against you, but your statement that you only watch the show just to complain about it really ticked me the wrong way.

I’ll concede that your theory makes sense from your perspective, and you can believe it all you want. However, no matter what arguments you come up with, no matter how plausible you make it sound, it will never be considered fact simply because of what I said before. It was never said outright, so I have no obligation to treat it as anything more than a theory.

You can disregard all of my explanations for how to fix the supposed plot holes you guys pointed out (those are just theories too and are equally as valid or invalid), but I don’t have to prove your theory incorrect since it really is just something you guys came up with and wouldn’t be something that the vast majority of viewers would assume upon viewing it.

My point was simple: theories shouldn’t be considered facts unless proven, and aside from a canon source, not from you, but from the show or the showrunners themselves, you simply can’t prove it. I know you don’t care much about canon, but I do, and that’s all I wanted to say for now.

There, I said my piece. Now I hope I didn’t come across as rude or insulting as you make me out to be. Have pleasant day.

I’m gonna shorten this and end it here, I think its getting too heated for you.

-I’m not here trying to ruin experiences, just discussing and pointing out your flaws on the topic at hand.

-You say you want to have a friendlier conversation, yet you’re the one swearing and throwing insults like quoted below:

everyone else is an idiot for believing anything else

I thought you didn’t like facts with your whole ‘canon doesn’t mean shit and is just your delusion’ statement you made earlier. I mean, you obviously think theories are so much better.

Canon can mean “shit”, as how you put it, and it can be useful, except, in this very discussion canon is flawed, because the plot is so messed and in a jumble. And it happens so frequent and often I definitely do see the discussion of “canon” to be most irrelevant because of the continuous mistakes.

So you’re not gonna provide any proof or anything to back up what you said, so there is nothing further to discuss from here then.
You seem to avoid people’s points on the original discussion.
Yet you still say your words are true with no conclusive evidence, followed by insulting other’s intelligence.

Yeah I’m gonna stop here with how you’ve turned. Have a nice one!

Oh, and I stopped watching the show back in season 5, I can’t care for the show, it turned awful, hence why I rip apart the stupidity that is season 9 Sombra and its mess of a plot.

Figures. You know, little disgusts me in this fandom more than someone who watches it only to stick around and complain about it endlessly just to ruin the experience for the ones that do like it. You just lost all credibility to me with that statement you know.

Also, for the last time, that what we saw in season 9 is the real Sombra is not my idea or my headcanon, you don’t need me specifically to prove it to you. It’s a fact that’s clearly shoved in my face as a viewer and that 99% of the audience would see as well, so you would have to have some damn near perfectly conclusive proof to say that obviously it’s the interpretation that only 1% of people see that’s the correct one and everyone else is an idiot for believing anything else. So stop talking like I’m the only one who doesn’t buy into your theory.

At this point, if you hate theories so much

I don’t hate theories. I don’t even hate this theory, believe it or not. I have a bunch of theories of my own I’d love to share in a friendlier conversation. However, I don’t go around claiming my theories are more valid than what’s officially confirmed by the show, nor do I become hostile to people who don’t believe them.

But at the very least try to backup your statements with facts, and not claiming they are.

I thought you didn’t like facts with your whole ‘canon doesn’t mean shit and is just your delusion’ statement you made earlier. I mean, you obviously think theories are so much better.

Wow this debate got pointless very quick. How typical. It goes against everything I was talking about. It’s NOT about which Sombra is better, but trying to slot the stories into a cohesive narriative that makes sense.
This is NOT headcannoning, at least to me it isn’t. All the material we are talling about is official and licienced by Hasbro, so we aren’t making much of anything up, just trying to explain things.
