@Background Pony #DD01
I’m not sure but it doesn’t seem like you are recognizing the character development going on. We are seeing the bad and the good in Zephyr. The good makes us want to root for him and continue to show the good, but like in real life, sometimes the bad overtake the goods and they continue to make mistakes. It’s makes his character very interesting and real.
Just as Soarin’ said here, he “grew up” and learned from his mistakes. But it doesn’t mean the writers likes him more or anything. If anything, the writers have spent a ton of time and care writing Zephyr and everyone else.
@CaptainGrumpy
It is a rollercoaster for Zeph for sure and I just want to see him break down his own barriers. It’s very believable.
@CaptainGrumpy
I’m not gonna lie - it sounds like Zephyr is being written very believably.
I think we all know people like this, who we keep giving chance after chance to, and they just for whatever reason run away and keep making the same mistakes over and over.
@Jarkes
true, he had us in the first half, not gonna lie - but then the next comic came along and dropped his sympathy rating back down to 0%
if he’s just gonna run away again and not even gonna attempt to learn from his mistakes then why even bother? I don’t know if Flutters is gonna bail him out this time tbh
Well, no, but for a while it looked like this comic was setting up for some more development for him BEFORE this arc started, only for him to backslide.
@Jarkes
When did Soarin or Spike aknowledge they ever did anything wrong? Or are we just supposed to pretend they’re perfect angels because the writer likes them better?
You see, Zeph, Soaring is attractive, so when he was sleazing it was fine. When Spike was sleazing, the writer played favorites and he was fine. You don’t get to sleaze, cause you’re not attractive nor the writer’s pet.
This hurt. I didn’t know Soarin’ was a boss though lol. Zephyr did need to learn the hard way though to bad for him. You know what it is it is what it is.

…I’m not sure myself.
What HAVE you seen anyway?
Never saw that, so that’s why I didn’t get it.
It’s from How I Met Your Mother.
I’m too uncultured, sorry.
Really? No one caught the reference I made here?
Yeah, that may have been the point with that stuff.
I know several people like this unfortunately - some of whom I’m even related to

be honest - does anyone really like Zephyr though?
I’m pretty sure Soarin just did here, and Spike has been developing over the course of the comic.

I must be reading a different comic, because that’s not what happened at all. It’s called character development.
Doesn’t disproves my points. Writer has favorites, the story bends around to accomodate that.
get a damn job Zephyr
Oh I know half of that lol rest I didn’t but thanks
In this comic’s canon, Soarin’ is the founder and CEO of a small start-up that manufactures pillows shaped like mare butts.
Zephyr definitely has his flaws, equalled by his low points, but hopefully this heavy moment will serve as a prelude for some soul-searching.
