He only reason this got the #1/#2 spot is because it was in the right place at the right time. It went “viral”, so to speak, and the continuing war with the explicit-rated #1 did nothing but massively inflate the numbers of both images.

Yeah, and more than two dozen that aren’t safe, were you could say the exact same thing about. So your point is?  
It is rather annoying that we have this score war about those particular images in the last few years. But that only shows that a high score says absolutely nothing about quality, but so much about popularity.

We currently have more than a dozen safe images with a score of over 2000. There is no shortage of highly rated d’aww on this site, and every single one of those results is of higher aesthetic quality than this simple mashup of two screencap gifs. If any of those had been in the running for top scoring for the last four years instead of this picture, they would probably still be #1.

I work in information security (my day job is hacking things and defending against people hacking things) and monitor all our systems 24/7.
 
Anyone with sufficient skill to evade any security we have in place wouldn’t burn their ability and exploits on a pony imageboard.

Again, bring it up in the proper place (usually #derpibooru-help on IRC). We can generally discern whether or not the rule-breaking comments/posts/whatever are from the same person.

… has there ever been a scenario where two site users had the same IP address? {living under the same roof perhaps} and there was a fued because ONE got a permaban? what would happen in that situation?
