hey now zephyr. colin and murphy are highly valuable and respectable members of society. without them, how would you see how awful they are, and stop from heading the same way yourself? they’re shining examples of what not to do!
It might have more impact if the comic kept with the theme of Zephyr knowing full well he has issues but feeling unable to get out from under them. And the introduction of worse two-dimensional sleazeballs who exist just to be a mirror… I don’t know. I don’t like that kind of writing.
I mean, hey, if he’s part of the Royal Guard now, then obviously he still retained some of that growth. It’s certainly a lot better than his Equestria Girls depiction basically being a full-on creeper.
I really wish the show had shown us an actual growth/redemption arc for Zephyr, instead of sacrificing his apparent growth for a cheap joke in Sparkle’s Seven.

There’s always someone worse than you.
And all it took was hanging out with dudes who are even bigger scumbags than you.
Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight
Someone’s thinking of me and loving me tonight.
Somewhere out there someone’s saying a prayer,
That we’ll find one another in that big somewhere out there.
And even though I know how very far apart we are,
It helps to think we might be wishin’ on the same bright star.
And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby,
It helps to think we’re sleeping underneath the same big sky.

It’s what Ashleigh Ball wanted.
