None of that is universal, though, and can’t really be used to draw solid conclusions about canon.

While this seems like a feasible theory, one very noticeable detail that potentially tears it to shreds is the color of Luster Dawn’s eyes.

In the world of MLP:FiM, foals usually adopt the eye color of one of their parents OR an eye color that combines both of their parents’ eye colors; in some cases, it is the eye color of the grandparent.

Trixie Lulamoon has purple guys just like her father Jack Pot, and Diamond Tiara’s light blue eyes resemble her father Filthy Rich’s. Looking at Scootaloo, her purple eyes match up perfectly with her mother Mane Allgood’s.

Starlight’s eyes are purple, which don’t match Firelight’s brown eyes at all, but it’s possible that her unnamed mother has/had purple eyes.

Similarly, Sunburst’s eyes are teal, while his father Sunspot has purple eyes and his mother Stellar Flare has green eyes. It’s possible the green and purple mixed together to create teal.

So… when it comes to Luster Dawn, does her eye color match up with any of her relatives?

Well, they do indeed kind of resemble Firelight’s brown eyes, but her eyes are orange. There are no known relatives of hers with orange eyes, and it’s likely we’ll never see any of them.

Wtf that was the exact opposite of what I was saying. Star and Sun did not start out friendly. So if they had a kid, that kid would also be unfriendly. Like Luster who is clueless about being friendly.
 
Sunburst abandoned his friend. Starlight thought control was friendship. They had to learn to be friendly. Just like Luster. She had to learn to be friendly and she was introduced at the time of learning to be friendly.
 
You can’t learn to be friendly of you don’t start out unfriendly first. This is why she looks like she takes after her alleged parents who are both socially inept.

You do realize that both Starlight and Sunburst themselves– and also Twilight, for that matter– are extremely different from their own parents, right? Growing up refusing to follow in her hypothetical starburst parents’ hoofsteps would, with entirely justified narrative irony, be following in their hoofsteps. She was overtly presented as being Yet Another Twilight-But-Without-The-Magic-Of-Friendship character template, right down to her Twinkle Gloaming name, and “grew up head down in a book, no time for friends” is a basic part of that; in context it isn’t out of bounds at all that she would turn out more or less the same way all of the others did.
 
It’s also entirely possible that– hear me out here– Haber’s intent was to kindasorta hint at her being the product of a starburst ship the same way he hinted at appledash and yonabar and smoldercellus, but didn’t really bother to explore any of the implications because she’s a character who was going to appear for a grand total of less than ten minutes in the coda of a 222 episode series.

yup you made the same points I made, actually just thought of other points, Starlight didn’t think Friendship was bad, in fact her whole thing was ensuring Friendships never ended by making everyone the same so friends wouldn’t fight or leave each other….she was trying to save friendships in her own twisted way. she didn’t know how to act like a proper friend, not that she saw friendship as wrong she wanted a friend.
 
And sunburst we don’t really know anything about his views on friendship, he was a kid who got a huge chance to go to a prestigious school and took it, sure he didn’t write but that’s once more him not fully knowing how to be a proper friend not saying that he views friendship as a waste of time like Luster did.
 
Both of them had issues being good friends but nothing that said they saw friendship as a waste of time.

also I love the “no fun saying shes not” line at the end, because there is no fun in getting to make up who her parents are, like was done with Schootaloo and Applejack for years before their parents were revealed or any of the other character when we didn’t know the personalities of their parents.

Except Luster came across as she had always thought that way, and wasn’t just rebelling against her parents and a way of life she would have known her whole life.

so you are saying education is hereditary? Starlight and Sunburst were like that because they weren’t taught anything else. That is in no way the type of trait that is passed on from person to person.
 
You are basically implying people don’t have separate personalities and traits and only copies of their parents and will behave exactly like them growing doing the exact same thing as if its a script.
 
That is not how people work, when Luster was born in this scenario Starlight and Sunburst know about friendship and THAT is what Luster would have grown up with, it doesn’t matter how they behaved before then as Luster wasn’t around then so wouldn’t have been influenced by that behavior.

Occam’s razor. Luster thinks friendship is full of shit because she takes after her parents who both thought friendship was full of shit. People forgetting how Starlight was? People forgetting Sunburst didn’t win any best childhood friends award, did he.

See, there’s massive gaps in this that fans refuse to acknowledge it seems. Yes, this does make a certain amount of sense, but too much about Luster herself takes a massive dump all over this.
 
She basically tells Twilight that friendship is full of shit and not worth the time. Why would she think like that if Starlight and Sunburst are her parents? Would they be perfect parents? No. But they would be smart enough to teach her the value of friendship and friends.
 
That Luster doesn’t even know Twilight and her friends get together once a month shows that she is most likely been accepted as the princess’ personal student relatively recently. If she was related to Starlight and Sunburst, she would know all about this in some way.
 
As for her looking like them. So what? Twilight and Starlight could be said to be related. Look at their cutie marks. But are they? Nope. Sunburst looks like he could be Sunset’s brother, but is he? Nope.
 
Hasbro was just too lazy to come up with something, and just threw Luster’s look together willy nilly.

To be fair, Luna and Sunset Shimmer both turned into whole-ass supervillains right under Celestia’s nose; maybe Overprincess Twilight is the same way.

1: many ponies have similar CMs to other people, its based off what you are supposed to do with your life. Trixie has a CM similar to Twilight Velvet and one also similar to Starlight but neither are related which was my point, its likely to be destined to do the same thing as your parents but we’ve seen multiple examples of foals having drastically different destinies then their parents, see the archeologist filly and the colt Raritys hat went too who left his families small farm to become a designer. I forgot the episodes so cant give the exact ones.
 
2: It makes little sense Luster has that level of respect for Twilight and then hold her views of friendship which are the exact opposite of The Princess of Friendship stand for, secondary Luster had no idea twilight visits her friends once a month suggesting she hasn’t spent a lot of time around Twilight and Twilight was unaware of Lusters views about friendship suggesting theyd only recently met. Also if Starlight or Sunburst failed this why wouldn’t they tell Twilight this when they sent her? Starlight has learned about not hiding such things from friends and this is a very big thing.  
this also addresses the second comment you made previously. the fact Twilight was unaware of this view of her domain so to speak and Luster held this view despite regular contact with some one who breaths friendship makes little sense if they’ve been in contacted for years.
 
3: Twilight looks like a lot of other ponies in general in terms of colors specially in early seasons before they expanded the color selections and character models.
 
4: During the song we see Twilight introducing Luster to not only the town but also Starlight as well, why would you introduce some one to their own daughter? Unless Starlight effectively disowned her own daughter and had zero connect she should know her and Luster should be familiar with the town.
 
5: See previous point about Luster being entirely unaware Twilight meets her council once a month and assumed all the friends never talked to each other. the chances of her being unaware of this for years if she was twilight student for that time are virtually impossible. She was shocked to see them meaning shed not seen or interacted with them before.
 
Do not misunderstand me, I have no issues if she is Starlight’s kid or not, the issue is there really isn’t much evidence that supports it that doesn’t also support multiple other people being related to other people when they are not. least not unless Equestria is Alabama.
 
You honestly have the best evasive to support this and I like that you put it together and in points rather then other people ive seen who just say “she looks like her there for she is” without actual any real details on what they mean or just want it to be a thing like shippers do.
 
You have the best evidence on the matter since…well..its evidence even if in my opinion is very circumstantial it at least is plausible evidence and so I do commend you for that.

Nearly every Luster is Starlight’s daughter thread is beset by rage, or full of deleted posts.

Its nice but its not answering the right questions. To answer the wrong questions, just Occam’s razor it. Even if you show this to casual fans, their first impressions are “Is that Starlight and Sunburst’s daughter?” Not that the thought is not a declaration. Its a question because you’re not sure. It just feels like it.
 
The right question is “Why does it offend snowflakes?” That’s the question that needs to be answered.
