I personally feel like the point was that he didn’t have one working as a contrast to Pinkie’s hyper everything, but I’m not watching this show so I won’t pretend I know for sure that they didn’t find a way to make it work (nor that the new bit they have is better or worse than the one I’m used to).
Also, I liked his purple eyes more.
