From what I understood, a mix of power abuse from the admins and the bigoted, perverted side of the fandom whining about not being able to do what they want. Power abuse is extremely bad, but I’m going to take the admins’ side in this one.

There’s a difference between saying “I don’t want bigots on this platform” and using twitter mobs and “site assassination” to force said site to censor people you do not like.  
Since pro-freedom sites will NOT censor people politically, no matter external factors, then there’s NO POINT for pro censorship person to go to such site.  
Like WHY even go to ponybooru to demand censorship when said demand will NEVER be fullfiled?  
It is like going to Inkbunny and demanding cub art to be taken down.

I’m not trying to bait anyone other than the abusive staff. The description pretty much says it all. I left the site well before any of this shit show happened.
 
Back in December I did something special. Every single day I released a picture of a different character. I was fulfilling a wishlist of about 50 characters. I was exhausted, but I was on a roll. For characters like the CMCs and Diamond Tiara, I did aged up versions to abide by Derpi’s rules. Despite how clearly aged up they were, they were removed. The reasoning they gave me was Hips too narrow. That was their logic. I’m a show accurate artist. What character in this show doesn’t have narrow hips?
 
If that wasn’t enough, I was constantly being harassed on here and THEY DID NOTHING. “Freedom of speech” they proclaimed. Apparently freedom of speech makes harassment ok. Recent events only made it quite clear to me that their warped perception of freedom of speech goes out the window the moment it goes against their own politics. Racism is bad, but personally targeting someone is bad too. Go after both or practice what you preach.

Even if there are people likes and fetishes you hate are leaving as a result of site policy and admins. The fact remains that some of the admins on this site are abusing their power, taking down any image they see fit to if you don’t let them insult you and your image with tags such as “OP is being a duck” Or “OP isn’t even trying anymore.”
 
Its one thing if the image and/or user in question is deliberately starting drama by saying shit they know will get a rise out of people its another for someone to be voicing their opinion through said image.

There is already a site coming together with the goal of replacing this one. They had a few days of buggy downtime, but it’s working now. Ponybooru.org. With a y, not an i like that other old site.
 
It’s built just like Derpi, down to the extensive tagging. The major difference is the mods there don’t buy their mod power and the site is actually all about not censoring people. Apparently they allow loli too, so I don’t have to worry about a repeat of that one time I posted very clearly aged up CMC porn because “hips too narrow.”  
They even removed this aged up DT and SS picture.
 
No, there is nothing loli about this. Nobody in their right mind would call this loli. The mods very clearly had a personal beef with me and were being abusive.

Always amazing to see someone blissfully ignorant of the happenings around them.  
Your exact scenario with the controversial images happened this month. The mods just went LOL RULE 0 and deleted it. They don’t care, they’re off playing the latest Stellaris mod from Lovers Lab. People off-site were able to rally because deplatforming is a stupid idea that doesn’t work.  
Leverage? Derpibooru gave the artists the the rope to hang itself with by having a DNP list. Artists filed requests and the mods fudged their pants and backed down.  
At least a couple implicated themselves by mouthing off in the forum and Discord. “It’s just a socioeconomic theory, bro!” Now we wait for the other shoe to drop.  
Owner abusing his power? Well… I’ll just say there are alternatives being made on “4cent Garbage”, and not to get your hopes up about the future of this website.

What an age we live in, where anything can become a toy!

IP bans are a bitch to evade btw and that’s what they use, how else do you think they can temp ban you as anon?
 
No the case and point here is, someone, sometime in the future, needs to upload something that doesn’t violate any rules but THEY KNOW that the admins in question do not like said content, and while following site rules, piss them off bad enough to get them to abuse their power.
 
The catch 22 is this: how will we prove it? My image got deleted sometime back because a mod/admin didn’t like what I said in the description and image and refused to let insulting tags(that had nothing to do with the image) remain on it but I have no idea which admin did it since they can just delete an image as anon as we can except we can’t track their IP like they can track ours.
 
A farther problem is this: since we don’t know which admin(s)/mod(s) are abusing their power, calling one in behind the scenes to watch the others is pointless since we could very well be calling in the very mod(s) who abuse their power when people say things they don’t like in the first place.
 
Needless to say, we’re at square one with a rigged dice and no matter how we roll, we’re gonna land on a penalty space unless we find leverage somehow.
