Bonus detail, the “vomit” is incorrectly named as it comes from their crop, a sort of throat holding pouch. Said food is generally stuff that has just been broken down by the beak into very small pieces and slightly moist with saliva, basically making it less sloppy than someone putting food in their mouth, chewing it up, and then putting it in your mouth.

A lot of species, especially Budgies and cockatiels, will regurgitate food for their mates, a bird they are trying to woo, and even their human owners sometimes! It’s considered a sign of great affection among these birds :)

“Allofeeding” sometimes happens between mates when one is on the nest, but I can’t even name a specie that does it without Googling. You can check out the wikipedia page if you want to learn more.
