That is unfortunately true, though I can’t say it’s neccesarily ‘the community’ causing it, so much as certain people in the communities who’s belief in their ideals, or obsessions with validation of their shallow beliefs, drives them to try and spread it like wild-fire, often dishonestly, using the skin of a ‘good message’ as a cover for manipulating people to agree with them, or using an obvious ‘nobody would support this group!’ scape-goat to insult and put down, or blow up into an imaginary threat, for the same purpose.
 
The real problem is that it’s gotten into such a big deal, that now people ‘against’ it are forced to band together and react a certain way in order prevent it’s spread, and to make clear that they’re ‘not’ another one of those manipulative narcissist’s.
 
I think that ‘political jokes’ are fine, because I believe that comedy of all kinds is good to have out there, even if it’s a horrible disgusting joke, because even then it tells you valuable things about the person making it, especially when it comes to context and tone… when you need to worry is when it’s ‘not’ a joke.
 
Shoe-horning ‘serious’ politics into things unnecessarily is one of the most galvanizing and divisive problems of ‘today’, whether it’s ponies, or games, or movies, ‘the people’ keep shouting about how much they don’t want this bullshit poisoning their entertainment or their fandoms, and that means hard politics from ‘any’ side, but the obsessive narcissist’s refuse to listen, they continue onward as if anyone who disagrees with ‘them’ must be a member of that secret patriarchal boy’s club or one of their brainwashed servants who just doesn’t realize they’re supporting an evil cause. They continue demanding agreement and validation of their beliefs or else ‘you’ are part of the problem that they are the only people intelligent and wise enough to have recognized is even a problem.
 
It’s honestly sickening.
 
But this is why I’m firmly on the side of unrestrained internet freedom, period, you learn who the assholes are, you learn who the awesome souls are, and you learn who the ‘real’ evil actually is. Censorship and banning of words, phrases, or beliefs that ‘untorward’, is nothing more than a ploy to make the one’s doing the banning ‘look pretty on the outside’ while just driving those they ban into the background where they’ll be driven to ‘become’ a problem in order to earn back the freedoms they’re being denied.
 
I’m on the side of freedom for all ideas, no matter how sick and disgusting, and fully anti-censorship, because that is the best way to learn who’s really got messed up beliefs and to have a chance to convince them to be better than that. That even includes freedom to lie, but not freedom from the consequences ‘of’ lying, or the actions someone else carries out because you lied ‘to’ them and they were fool enough to believe it.
 
Note that I said all ‘ideas’, not ‘actions’, if someone’s messed up ideas drive them to violent actions, such as rioting because a criminal was killed instead of the cop they were trying to kill for instance, I say you sacrifice your freedoms when you turn to violence and rob other people of their right to safety and livelyhood over something that there is literal evidence of you being wrong about.

Most people will get this message because of the way most idiots word it, I am glad you are not like said idiots but this is just the unfortunate nature of what it’s become. You would have had to have been a little more specific than what you were because when you word it the way you did, it just sounds like another tired “dislikers must be nazis” I really wish I was kidding but when most people say something like that, it’s what they mean. I do apologize for assuming, but that’s pretty much what you get with most of the community nowadays and I hate it. There’s no real love anymore, just finger pointing if you even hint at something.

Re: My original issue kindly detailed by Sergal. The issue of “scale” is a lot bigger for me than it seems to be for you. The vast majority of the articles and videos I can find on the topic of far-right terrorism are either years apart or years old in general. That doesn’t say “flood” to me. That says an occasional round-up being used to justify a narrative. As I’ve been saying all along, the reason I don’t buy into this is due the lack of a constant flood of reports on this topic, NOT due to a lack of evidence of far-right terrorism existing in the first place.
 
When I say “where are the articles?” I mean where are all the articles? Daily. Weekly, even. Where are they? Why are the only examples I can see give-or-take yearly in nature? As Sergal and I have both pointed out, there should be an absolute deluge of coverage on this stuff if it actually takes place as frequently as the study Lurks-no-More linked to originally.
