Description

White Night is Nightlight’s big brother. He is the Captain of the Royal Intelligence. In addition, he is about to marry one of the rulers of the Starpony Kingdom: Princess Honeymoon. With his special connections, White Night has become second in power only to the rulers.

The Starpony Kingdom has four rulers: Princess Skysparkle, Prince Endearment (her son), Princess Teatime (her niece), and Princess Honeymoon (one of her niece’s distant descendants). All four rulers are alicorns. Skysparkle is the primary ruler.

Before White Night became an intelligence agent, he was a general for the Royal Guard. His sister might have more raw power, but he is better at controlling his powers. In his most emotional state, White Night has enough shielding power to protect a city from attack by a giant monster. (This does happen, including one time with his own sister) He can control the damage enough to make the situation feel more like a harmless cartoon.

White Night doesn’t rely on force to subdue monsters. He relies on psychology. He is kind and charming, but he can also be clever and intimidating. He tries to avoid needing to fight, but he is certainly ready to. Overall, White Night regards himself as a big brother watching over his fellow creatures. (In our culture, such a statement would have unfortunate implications. In his culture, such imagery has not been spoiled by George Orwell.)

At first, Stellanova won’t be mentioned – since she isn’t important to the series at first. When Skysparkle’s origins are first mentioned, I plan to leave out any mention of her sister. This way, I can avoid a tone that the series is not ready for in the beginning. At some point, I want to make just enough of a passing mention of Stellanova – so that it doesn’t seem I retcon her in later. (For example, maybe in a campfire story.)

I think you mean “Skysparkle and Stellanova’s relationship”. Stellanova is Teatime’s mother and Skysparkle’s twin sister.

Stellanova is not entirely bad, but she is definitely vainglorious. Ironically, if later reports of her in dreams are anything to go by, then Stellanova is finally building her emotional intelligence. It’s just that she is trying to win loyalty in a way that satisfies her own vanity – much like a popular-girl stereotype. She has some genuine concern for her loyal followers, though mostly in a territorial sense.

Wow…

I can almost see a parallel between Twilight Teatime, Stellanova, Celestia, and Luna in the context of what seems like a strained sibling relationship!
However, I guess unlike Celestia and Luna, I guess Teatime and Stellanova’s relationship is as yet unresolved?

Still, they I can certainly glean from this the awesome power both of them have.
Also, it’s interesting to consider that now you have two “Unicorn Syndrome” characters, or at least one _possible one), both sympathetic to a degree - except Nightlight seems more like a protagonist/hero type, and Stellanova more of an “antihero”, if not villain.
Correct me if I’m wrong

Princess Teatime does make some of the finest cups of tea. Yet there is much more to her than hosting tea parties.

Her full name is “Twilight Teatime”. Princess Teatime is the successor of her mother, former Princess Stellanova. Stellanova tried to overthrow Skysparkle, but Skysparkle managed to defeat her. Skysparkle felt like the popular girl, while Stellanova felt like the nerd. This made Stellanova angry and jealous.

Stellanova might have had an undiagnosed form of Unicorn Syndrome. However, it was her attitude that kept her from building a good circle of friends. The main problem was that Stellanova didn’t appreciate friendship the way her twin sister has. Stellanova couldn’t see past her own sense of entitlement.

Teatime tried to reason with her mother. But when her mother attacked her, she realized she had no choice but to turn against her own mother. Stellanova was sent off into space, with the rocket she meant for her sister. Secretly, Teatime landed her mother on the moon. In any case, Stellanova has been presumed dead.

Even so, some say they have seen Stellanova in dreams. In some dreams, Stellanova torments someone she hates. Other times, she is trying to seduce someone to her side. Skysparkle herself has occasionally been tormented by nightmares where her sister appears – including one where she actually got injured in the real world! More evidence suggests that Stellanova was taking her anger out on people’s dreams well before she tried to overthrow her sister. In fact, she was using a dream to get Skysparkle to sleepwalk into the rocket meant to blast her sister off into space.

Princess Teatime shares her mother’s powers over dreams. Teatime didn’t realize how much power her mother actually had over dreams; Stellanova was probably in the middle of discovering them for her own self. Her mother was mostly nocturnal, and so is she. Teatime is kind of shy like her mother – but she can be very outgoing when she is with her cousin Endearment. Her powers over dreams help her break the ice with strangers – much like the internet.

When Teatime inherited her mother’s crown, she felt kind of guilty that she got it from overthrowing her own mother. In addition, she didn’t want her cousin Endearment to be left out. He has always felt like a full part of the team to her. Therefore, she shared her crown with him. Teatime regards her aunt as her new mother (even though she has never officially been adopted). Endearment and Teatime tend to follow the lead of his mother; they have never felt entirely independent of their mother figures.

Even as a Shining Armor expy, he definitely has a good characterization and exudes a pleasant vibe. He’s the kind of stallion I’d love to have a drink of some sort with while listening entranced to his epic stories!

Also, “Princess Teatime”…
Hehe

I can only guess what her niche would be :P

These two characters are meant to be parodies. In my work, the big-brother-little-sister relationship is a driving force of the series. Nightlight is a much more troubled character at first. Moreover, Princess Skysparkle has both boys and girls as her star students. Overall, in my work, friendship between the sexes is a major focus.
