Grocery store worker here. When the pandemic started, our company gave us various incentives such as bonuses or increased pay. That lasted about 2-1/2 months. We haven’t seen anything since those ended. Our online sales have certainly picked up, but we’re still out there on the floor, running 8-hr shifts in masks or face shields, with customers all over the place doing the same. We’re absolutely in the thick of it with no sign of stopping and no word from the company on whether we’ll be receiving any sort of additional compensation. We may not be healthcare workers or medical personnel, but I’ll be damned if we’re not essential. Be nice if the higher-ups felt the same way.
I like this image alot. Gives respect to the essential industries that keep the world moving during a pandemic. Makes me a bit prideful in my work too, as I manufacture the sensors that other companies like 3M use to make essential items.
Absolutely love this. Respect to all essential workers!
I still say Dashie should be a paramedic and Derpy should be the delivery person. She is canonically a mailmare, after all, and Dashie’s speed would be even more critical as a paramedic… :)
Volunteer firefighter here, I can confirm we don’t wear those masks while on the job as they are considered a danger to us, mainly for muffling our voices and oxygen intake. Before anyone says ‘so do your oxygen masks’, our scba’s have voice amplifiers built in so we can be heard clearly in an emergency.
