In a perfect world…but in ours, it’s a little more complicated. The common thread, through all of those latter “leadership” styles you mentioned, is corruption.
 
Younger people tend to look to who is in power, as an example of how to get ahead in life; I think that’s human nature, and hence why it’s so bad to have selfish egoists as rulers (aside from the immediate effects on the ruled). Unfortunately, for many of our societies, those in power are terribly corrupt, and it takes a tremendous effort and awakening by everyone in a society to change that. We’re now finding out – in the West, at least – how unique, fragile, precious, but worth fighting for, freedom and democracy truly are.

So, the “romantic criminal”/“tough loving papa” theme is still prevailing even in younger Russkies? I thought after a century with Lenin, Stalin, USSR “elite” council, and the rest (including Putin), the new fry would be finally done authoritarianism, despotism, tyranny, oligarchy, and nepotism.
