This. This is what I’m getting at. I’ve been here since Season 1 and I can see that Pinkie’s humour has devolved. Makes you wonder if we ended up with one of her clones from Too Many Pinkies.

I thought this scene was funny.

I wouldn’t want anyone in this show to be flawless, three dimensions for (most) of the characters is what makes this show great. I just don’t like or find Pinkie Pie funny or entertaining. Personal taste, agree to disagree, all that then.

I have noticed alot of people have trouble excepting faults in characters/people and that doesn’t just go for Pinkie Pie. But they really feel strongly when it comes to the mane 6 just because they’re the elements of harmony or some dribble. Like they have to be perfect just because of their title.
 
I suppose it irks me most of all because I lived with the type of people who only looked at the negative attributes in people for over a year.

Sorry, I don’t buy it. And if you don’t see that her obnoxiousness in Games Ponies Play was supposed to be over-the-top, I don’t know what to say.

An interesting perspective friend, though I would argue it was Season 2 that made her unlikable. Her actions in episodes like “Friend in Deed”, “Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000” and “Luna Eclipse” made me perceive her as a callous, brainless ditz who was too thick headed to understand she was upsetting people, which she always was, though I concede “Baby Cakes” showed she is not intentionally malicious, just idiotic. I hate people like that. Only after going back and watching Season 1 (I joined at 2) was my disgust with this character downgraded to annoyance.

From the viewpoint of someone who has been here from the beginning, I’ve seen it go like this.
 
If you came in during S1, you’re likely to say that Pinkie is your favorite Pony. She made pretty much made Season 1; almost all the gags and memes it spawned came from her, and at the time it was airing until about halfway through S2, she always won the popularity polls.
 
S2, she got more character development which is always welcome, but her gags started to fall by the sideline because the formula Faust developed was being eclipsed. In season 1, for most episodes, everything was told from Twilight’s point of view, with Pinkie being the comedic relief in her interactions with her alone. When S2 hit, it became focused on all the characters and it became more difficult to work Pinkie in, much less make it appropriate to do so. As a result, though most of her gags hit home, they suffered as a whole and she came off much weaker in S2 than in S1.
 
Around the halfway point of S2 is when we saw the shift to Fluttershy being “best pony” for a period (This still baffles me, as from a writer’s standpoint she’s easily the weakest of the mane 6. You could argue Applejack has less time, but at least when she has some spotlight she does well with it; FLuttershy has had loads of screentime, with little to no real character progression. I get most people think she’s adorable, but I don’t know, lack of characterization kills her for me.), til’ ultimately getting eclipsed by Twlight before S3 hit.
 
Finally, S3…yeah. Pinkie is still my favorite character, but anybody with a brain will tell you she’s been abhorrent this entire season. Her clever loony tunes-esk slapstick was replaced with loud noises and modern cartoon random garbage humor; the pinnicle of which being her “HEY! LOOK AT ME!” gag in Games Ponies Play, which pretty much summed up the whole season.
 
Still, perspective is key. If you look at the more popular “humor” artists in the fandom, Pinkie is almost always their favorite, especially if they’ve been here since S1.
 
The “Hate” generally comes from people who came in on S3, or from that really eerie segment of Fluttershy’s fanbase who foam at the mouth whenever anyone suggests she’s not perfection personified.

It’s pretty easy to differentiate Pinkie from a Pinkie clone. I could understand the above sentiment if it were about a Pinkie clone. But Pinkie? No way.

Oh heyull no. Fluttershy is tied with AJ for my favorite. Rarity is last for me. Again, still like her, she’s just my least favorite of the six of them.

I’m starting to think all these people who hate Pinkie have known people that act like her in real life (minus the “give anything to make you happy” part) and then have bad flashbacks/take out that anger on her.

If I thought she was just a one trick pony, I’d have said I hated her. She’s not a bad pony or a bad character. In “Friend In Deed” and “Griffon the Brush Off” yes she ultimately got good results, but was so insufferable for the majority of her screen time I didn’t care. She’s not a bad pony or a bad character, she just rubs me the wrong way.
 
Well, except in “Luna Eclipsed.” She was a completely aggravating, stupid git in that episode, and the sooner they bury that characterization the better.
