Yep, well kind of, usually I have a couple references somewhat pertaining to a subject. In this case I wanted to make a sort of warrior angel and a godray effect, so basically that image, a couple of MTG cards and general god ray photos, but the more I got into the painting the more I leaned into that particular reference to the point of it being totally derivative at in terms of color pallet and general ideas most of all. Though at the same time I think it does have some elements that does differentiate itself from it such as posing, a more rounded and closer composition and lighting (beyond the obvious fact that it’s a pony ofc).

I’m not really sure what to do with it now that I’ve had some time to reflect on it more, it’s riding a fairly fine line inspired by and it being a mlp reskin of that picture far more than I intended it to or realised it becoming.

It took way to long for me to find the source and artist of it. Google image search found little other than wallpaper repost sites, Pinterest, sites selling unauthorized prints, and many variations and slight retouches of it.

Those creatures aren’t actually going to attack her. They’re just shocked by and basking in the light of her perfection.
