Sunny seems strangely and overly pleased to discover she is the result of four generations of inbreeding.

Huh and the art style of her ancestors seems to be better too, I bet that means over time art styles get worse and worse, which means one of these further generations will be stick figure ponies marveling at the depth their ancestors had.

This also explains the “golden etheral wings” (& horn) of Sunny [she is “special”… but not really].
. When the Unity Crystals™ reactivated magic, Sunny´s mere proximity to them supercharged her dormant recesive genes.
-> ANY other pony with bloodlines coming from the same ancient ancestors of Starswirl, Twilight Velvet, ( any other “highest_level_unicorn” ), etc… would had also “reawoken” their “hidden potential” of becoming an alicorn [like Cozy Glow, who always had the “horn” gene on top of her pegasus wings].

[Alternatively]: The “golden” wings & horn is a side-effect of Sunset´s magical transformation on “Friendship Games” from a human (the equivalent of a magicless Earth Pony) into “Sunset Seraph” (aka: Daydream Shimmer™ ).
-> Something only the descendents of Sunset can do.
