  1. This is not an airport, there is no need to announce your departure
  2. The longer the #goodbye7ever message, the sooner the inevitable return. Those who will never come back are the ones who quietly drifted away years ago. Angry goodbye messages mean the author still cares.

Just because there are other shows that are better than FiM does not mean that the fandoms attached to those shows are remotely worthwhile. The Wire and Bojack Horseman [in case the protagonist being a horse is a hard requirement] are both miles above FiM in terms of writing quality, yet neither has a dedicated fandom. There are plenty of fans, but no fandoms.
FiM seems to have found a fandom sweet spot in size: it’s a step down from Pokémon and Star Wars, which are both so large as to be amalgamations of separate fandoms, yet still large enough to have MLP-only conventions and not be yet another show in the rotating Fandom®™ roster.

EVER SERIOUSLY HEARD OF MULTIFANDOM?!
I didn’t said that when MLP ended I tossed it away. Seriously. There’s many shows. Some peoples doesn’t claim MLP as their main fandom. They still can come back but it doesn’t give them joy anymore

I get the feeling you’re here to try to stir the pot and cause trouble, so I’ll simplify this for you:
If you read what I said, you will understand the meaning of it, so let me repeat:
“if you are just wanting to move on to the next big thing to keep yourself entertained, were you really a fan in the first place? This is like tossing away all the original and prequel star wars trilogies just because 7, 8, and 9 are coming out, without seeing it.”
The point is not about who likes what. It’s the feeling of someone who would dismiss G4, and everything it brought, just to move right on to G5, and focus solely on that, like G4 never existed. I even said in my statement:
“For what I’ve seen of it, G5 is, well, it’s ok. I can see why some people would get into it”
and that’s just it, it’s not my cup of tea, but that’s not to say anyone who wants to enjoy it shouldn’t.
Try to read the entire statement please, instead of trying to start pointless fights

Which brings me to my next point:
While I do want G5 to succeed, I don’t think it could achieve the same level of popularity that G4 had.
Mainly cause:
  1. The fact G4 started the brony craze.
    And
  2. What @Spike Number 1 Assistant said.
Background Pony #4E0A
@Background Pony #8CC7
To be fair, I don’t think he meant that.
And while I agree on moving on, thing is, some people don’t want to, considering how unique G4 was.
As @Spike Number 1 Assistant said:
Some things stand the test of time, this is why G4 was unique. It brought in fans of all genders and ages, like none of the previous MLP’s did, had extremely relatable characters, quotable lines, storylines, it pretty much had it all, this is why G4 stood out, because it was unique enough in it’s own right to start up a never before fandom of bronies and pegasisters.

This can be a bit debatable. Because unhealthy can be defined different ways. To me, unhealthy is going to conventions demanding female cosplayers be your “pony waifu” or some of the extreme R34 stuff that has popped up online. But one point i will absolutely disagree with is the ability to move on to whatever’s next right away.
For what I’ve seen of it, G5 is, well, it’s ok. I can see why some people would get into it, but I dunno it kind of lacks a lot of what made G4 special. In my eyes, Izzy is pretty much Unicorn Pinkie Pie for example. but that’s my thoughts only.

I don’t understand. You and Mixmaster have really unhealthy obsession 🙄
Normal peoples would move on and be like:
,,Okay. Maybe it wasn’t this great like I thought. But hey! I’m sure there will be great show what I will find what will replace FIM!”
Just really. Let it go. It’s been almost 3 years

Because I do care about the show, that hasn’t changed. The good parts anyway, before it went to complete trash in the last season. I left the “general fandom”, but I’m still in my little niche that discards the last season. But you’re right, if I really didn’t care about any of it, I wouldn’t bother posting.
For my enjoyment of the show, I will agree it went downhill in season 9, but I think by then at least with s7, the writers knew the show was on the way out, and the signs of seasonal rot were on the horizon, and they decided to bow out while there were still enjoyable elements to the show. I don’t think they wanted it on the level of stuff like South Park, or the Simpsons that has gone on way longer than they should have and are just reaching now.
I agree there. Season 7 was still great. But given what I know now, I wouldn’t have minded if the show had ended right at the end of S7 and the movie. I’d miss a few things from S8 (while it was a big quality drop, it was still decent overall and the good outweighed the bad, unlike S9 - we had things like the kirin episode and confirmation of how powerful the tree is). But I’d sacrifice that to nuke S9 from orbit. While the big drop did start in S8, it feels like there was some force keeping it from going totally off the rails like S9 did.

S9 just suffered from a bit of rushing. Its pretty obvious the writers thought they were going to get at least 1 more season, and then 18o’d some time half way through the season to quickly write toward a conclusion. Simply put the show ended before they had a chance to give proper endings to several characters. It was still good, at least imo, but it could have benefited from another like half-season, introducing no new characters and just soundly closing each character’s story.
Rushing was definitely part of it. They were just throwing crap at the wall by the end of it. But that was FAR from the only problem.
The only acceptable type of ending for a show like FIM, was an “and the adventure continues” type ending, in the present. Stories don’t need to be “closed”. It just needs to be treated like a real world, and just the cameras are leaving. We didn’t need reappearances of villians who had already been dealt with. S9 didn’t even NEED a villian. Grogar was stupid even when everyone thought he was real. He was better off as a mysterious legend. “Destroying” the tree was absolutely ridiculous too. 1) there is no way to destroy it, it has roots under most of the continent, and has reach everywhere. They also forgot that Twilight’s castle and the map are part of the tree. So yeah, it and the elements cannot be destroyed. 2) even if it COULD be destroyed, no way Sombra has enough power to do so. He isn’t that powerful, his magic is based on brainwashing and illusion, not raw power. It withstood an attack from Discord for 1000 years while UNPOWERED (no elements). And it’s had at least 2 MASSIVE power boosts since. Returning the elements, and then powering them up to the rainbow power form.
The other issue is they brought in new writers who were not familiar with the characters, or the show itself, and were not required to learn anything about it. So we got characterizations that were flanderized BADLY and were just…off and made no sense. 2,4,6,Great is a great example of that. Rainbow…needs to learn the importance…of cheering. Oh you mean the same Rainbow that was teaching Fluttershy the importance of cheering in season 1? I wrote a new outline for a fixed version of that episode in less than 2 minutes. Granted an outline is not a full episode, but still. That episode isn’t the worst of the season, but it’s pretty bad, and the point where I went “I’m done”. I only watched the last episode on a leak, and it was out of morbid curiosity. I knew I shouldn’t, I knew it would be bad, but my morbid curiosity got the better of me. I wish I hadn’t watched it, but what’s done is done.
The final issue is they deliberately set out to “end” everything, by providing a “hard stop” for any fanfiction that adheres to their stupid “canon”, a VERY obvious “torch the franchise and run” moment. I suspect it was a ploy to get everyone to “move on”. But that episode was the antithesis of FIM. It devalues friendship. It twists every single character into a BAD caricature of themself, to make the absolute nonsense plot “work”. Not to mention the new character that is only there as Strawman Twilight 2.0. The entire thing is complete total nonsense. I could write a novel on what’s wrong with that episode. I’m not even scratching the surface here, and I really don’t want to get into it. My solution is to chuck S9 into the bin, launch the bin into the sun, say none of those events happened, and continue my headcanon as normal from there.

On a serious note, anyone ‘leaving the fandom’ will do so quietly. If they’re on contencreator there may be a single calm video or a single post about it just saying ‘Hey, there wont be as much pony stuff…’
The more loudly you ‘quit’ the more of a big, dramatic deal you make it, the more it shows you actually still care alot.
In reality a person will likely just find themselves checking in less and less. I myself went from watching every major pony video, to only watching the top 10 recaps then slowly stopped watching them and only really saw the big, big videos.
