Not chaining everyone to Equestria for the umpteenth time and acknowledging that ignoring a problem and threatening people rarely actually fixes anything?
Like the Wendigo’s everyone getting along under threat of death or desolation isn’t friendship.
Were there any other races besides ponies and Spike in the backstory? There might be a bigger problem than just not getting their consent on this issue.

Well, I agree with you. It’s not good writing. And now I’m thinking. Do the other races actually have magic? Sorry, I just imagine this to be “funny” when the changelings and kirins can’t transform anymore, the magical creatures all die out, etc. Could the zebras no longer brew potions for ages?
Well, I don’t know the comics that well, so I just don’t know how that’s the case with Tirek’s race of Centaurs, and so on. And where you mention the bad track record… The writers also seem to keep forgetting that Equestria was made not only of three pony races (four if you count batponies too), but also of several quasi-autonomous regions such as Saddle-Arabia and so on. Did they all split among themselves into different micro-territories, or did all the tribes come together and then everyone went their own way?
As I said… More questions than answers. All thanks to a few leaked picture. Wooohoo! Fandom! Discussions in the comments tags are back at the start tomorrow! That’s for sure. ;-)

Tough choices is used to excuse a lot, but rarely is the decision hard.
It’s selfish.
But thats neither here nor there, and if the other races are involved should they not have a part of this instead of basically being hung out to dry no doubt instigating conflict?
As a whole the series basically treats the ponies as super-humans.
I agree it isn’t surprising given the track record(and the comics usually being worse about it) of the show treating everything outside Equestria as basically sub-sapient when not needed to make them look good.
Which is why it really sucks as an attempt to answer things.

Well, in G5, the G4 event were ancient times while G5 is modern times. I mean the G4 continuity is already over and G5 is using some G4 references, elements, and facets just like when the Beat Era used references, elements, and facets from Transformers Generation 1 despite the Beast Era franchise not a sequel to any G1 media.
Oh, so THAT’S how the crystals were created! Glad we finally get the answer. Now, I wanna figure out what happened to these so-called “immortal” characters, like Celestia… Sorry if they already explained that. I can’t read the comics…
Well, knowing Twilight, she’s already gotten permission from the other races. And even if not, sometimes leaders have to make tough decisions. But that’s not what bothers me.
What bothers me is that it’s never really explained why it’s the ponies, of all people, who are so connected to the magic of this world so much. I mean, we have magical creatures on the one hand, magical forests, magical portals (depending on how you count the comics and/or EQG as canon, or not) on the one hand, and the ponies on the other. And strangely enough, they are also connected to the sun and moon.
I mean, heck yeah. Its a show called My little pony. And its for kids. Such Worldbuilding can be done. But you don’t have to. At least you should make the effort and explain one thing sufficiently before you start another. That’s what’s been bothering me, frankly, since the Journal of the Two Sisters was rewritten. Or retcon, if you prefer.
That’s my reason for being frustrated. I don’t mind motherloving Twiliy thinking she have to be the goddess of magic. Sorry. Element. I don’t mind the pony racism either. It’s stupid, but so are we as humans. It’s just being used now to connect the two generations. But I would have liked NOT to get answers right away that raise even more questions. Some people like that. I don’t. At least not at the beginning of a completely new generation.
But then, I’m not the target group. These aren’t even the ones who were the age of the actual target audience at the beginning of the first season of G4. It’s clear who Hasbro/IDW is targeting. I just wish they hadn’t made it quite so - how shall I say - EASY for the older fans to be disappointed now because of the expectations set before. Because as it is, this is just G4 in a new dress. Same structure, same modus operandi. And you can like that. But you don’t have to.
