Yeah a waste of a amazing cover for just for a hitch slice of life

I was expecting something a lot more dramatic based on this cover.

The comics always had a problem with the alternative covers having nothing to do with the actual story but this is pushing it

As expected; there was a demand before the G5 movie for a collaboration between the comics and the TV series - and this permeates all work as seen with a game that showed Sprout’s fate. Although the IDW and Netflix were not completely open about all the details of the background as with the lighthouse, there are clear signs that the movie, MYM, TYM and the comic are meant to complement each other to create common ground for the G5 lore.

Everyone who works with G5 will want to do their best, and they will not forget the arrogance of the G4 crew behind the TV series that had created a lot of trouble for everyone. They must cooperate.

Of course comics aren’t canon. Show most likely going to retcon them because GM Berrow doesn’t story edit the comics and IDW have no clue about G4 lore. Heck, they already contradict their own comics because Discord can travel through time Doctor Who style and meet Fluttershy whenever time he wants just like he can Baast and Dinosaurs. Thhose comics ar 100% fanfic and not canon and i wish Hasbro would stop giving IDW the license to ruin their characters for clicks and views.

In the G4 comics we got Sombra’s past. Sombra was reformed in the comics and they kept him reformed ‘til the end even going against the tv show. They didn’t think of giving him another defeat. They could had banished him again but no, they decided that he was going to be reformed. They couldn’t wait for the tv series. It looks G5 is waiting for the Netflix series to say the rest of the story.

The way they are telling the story through Discord. They are being too vague about it. There are pieces of story that are missing. For example, we don’t know the name of that alicorn villain yet and they didn’t tell us exactly what happened that caused the ponies to live in racial segregation. It is almost as if they know they can’t say too much because there is the Netflix series. They are even giving us side stories (issues #3 and #4) that add nothing to the story of the arc. To me it looks like they are trying to buy time adding these side stories. The Netflix series is almost here. Why did they add these side stories when they could have just kept us busy with the main story? It is too much of a coincidence. This didn’t happen with the G4 comics. G4 comics weren’t afraid of “saying too much” and didn’t have side stories.

Here’s a thought. Those are ordinary looking bunnies instead of uni-bunnies or pega-bunnies, or even those curling stone shaped ones from the movie.

If the comics end up not being canon, it will be such a letdown. I think they are pretty good so far. But hey that’s just my opinion.

The first death of the Mane 6 is likely confirmed by this cover. All these covers on the IDW comics have so far been fantastic and informative about the connection between G4 and G5. We can therefore safely say that Fluttershy, Rainbow, Applejack, Rarity and Pinkie are all dead - probably of old age. And the same covers made it clear that all “immortality blues” art here is 100% canon, Twilight has outlived all her close friends.

Just as Hasbro had said less than a year ago, when the entire Mane 6 with the exception of Twilight had become “inactive” for future publications. We don’t know yet if Twilight is still alive, but she had lived up to only 200 years before Sunny was born. And the cover here shows that there is a big time gap between this sad cover which could be after Fluttershy’s death, and when Discord first appeared in G5.
